A small cd was put into the floppy drive. how do i get it out.

I'm a bit confused as to just what you have and what you're attempting to do with it.. If you're truly trying to use a "floppy", you have to keep in mind that a floppy will only hold about 1.4 MB. That's equivalent to about one small to average digital picture. That compares with a regular CD disc holding about 700 MB (like about 300 pictures... In today's world of digital storage, floppies are mostly worthless., even though there are a few computers left out there that have a floppy drive... Hopefully, you have a CD drive that will write to disc.. If not, perhaps you can use a flash drive (available at Walmart) to store stuff on.. I hope I've helped a little bit...

Call the company you bought it from so they can fix it for free and do it right away, if there isa problem you can do an exchange within 30 days of purchase without haveing to wait just a straight swap out. sounds like the 1.44 MB floppy is bad or the screws were not in the A Drive

Check in right side of laptop .
You find i small button press it so you cna ejct it.
Also you can find with my computer .
open my computer thne right clcik on your cd drive icon then click on EJECT so your disk drive is eject.
Put your disk there.

go to bios set up then your first to boot is the cd rom drive ok.

If this is a newer system, this issue is the XP CD you are using doesn't have the needed hard drive controller driver it needs to see the Hard Drive.

Because this is Windows XP, you have only 2 options to resolve the issue. XP will only load a controller driver during install from one of 2 locations. Either a floppy diskette drive or from the XP Cd itself. XP has controller drivers for most systems available at the time the CD was burned, but newer systems, especially ones with SATA hard drives do not have supported drivers in XP CD images. You options are as follows:

1. Connect a USB Floppy Diskette drive to the system, download the needed driver (If one is available) copy the extracted driver files to the root directory of a floppy diskette and put the diskette in the Floppy drive, then boot the XP CD again. The driver should load automatically if the floppy is in A: Drive when you boot to the CD.
2. The second option requires slipstreaming the driver (Same one downloaded to a floppy in 1) into the XP image. (This takes a good bit of knowledge in bootable cd creation)

If all this seems to be quite the hassle, then install Vista,

You have two choices:

• Convert your windows 98 cd into many boot floppies. Then install from floppy. There is a utility on the CD (although I can't remember its name. I think it's something like makedisk.exe) that when ran will prompt you for many floppies.
• You can remove the hard drive drive from the laptop, and insert it into another desktop computer. You'll need a small adapter to do this, like the one found here:

2. Once you have inserted the drive into another machine, you can now copy the files from the windows 98 cd to the hard drive.
   
3. Now re-insert the drive back into the laptop, and boot from the floppy again. Once inside DOS, you can change directory to your windows98 cd files on the hard drive, and simply run setup.exe.
   

The second method takes a little longer, but will give you many other benefits, including never having to insert the cd to install a windows component again. Let me know how it goes.

you can purchase locally a usb floppy drive and download some small utilities in the internet that can be fit in the floppy disk, but i suggest that better use memory stick because it is cheaper and you can have more space than floppy disk.

If you have access to an external drive enclosure, OR you have a computer you can put the hard-drive from
that machine in temporarily, put the drive in one of them and copy the WIN98 directory to the harddrive.
Once the WIN98 directory is there, you can just install it from there. That is of course if the hard-drive has been
formatted with the /sys command, and set to primary boot drive using FDISK. As far as installing from floppy,..
the floppies haven't been on the market for a LONG time, and if you have them,.. I imagine they've seen better
days. If you HAVE to install from floppy though, use another computer, put in the CD, open the cd using windows
explorer. Once here, click on the WIN98 directory, and locate the files you need ( too many files and directories
to list here ) Seriously the best way would be to use an external drive enclosure ( since it's probably a 2.5" drive
size ) and just copy the whole directory to the drive and forget the floppy idea. It will take MUCH less time.

The floppy version of Oak CD Rom Driver it is trying to install, will only work on certain types of CD drives (usually IDE or IDE-compliant SCSI internals). It is rare that it will work on an "external" CD Rom. Very unlikely.

However, if this is a good brand-name external CD drive like a "Backpack", you can make a floppy boot disk with their own proprietary driver (look on their website or old version sites). Usually the external CD drive manufacturer will provide either a driver to add to a MS boot floppy, or they will provide a specialized floppy image that you can use instead of the MS boot floppy.
