SOURCE: weber gas grill will not ignite

you will probably have to get a new igniter or try to adjust the one you have. there is a little electrode on the igniter that needs to be clean and a certain distance away to work properly.

SOURCE: starter button doesn't work. can't be pushed down so grill won't start. do I need a battery for this part?

I just bought one of these, and I'm having a similar issue. The positive terminal of the AAA battery and its associated contact point become corroded quickly. The short term solution is to use a small screwdriver to scratch some of the corrosion products off of the contact point, and put in a new AAA battery (or clean the old one). I'm going to try to clean the contacts and apply a little petroleum jelly at that spot. Hopefully, this will prevent the corrosion...

SOURCE: In June I bought a new Weber grill but the auto

If there is no click, it is most likely the igniter module is bad. The igniter module should be available at any Home Depot or Lowe's; in any case, your owner's manual will show you how to remove and replace the igniter module. If you don't have the owner's manual, I will include a link to one online; you will need Adobe to open it. Here is the link: http://www.bbq.us.com/images_templ/weber-manual-3741001.pdf

Try this and if it doesn't fix your problem, come back and let me know and we will troubleshoot further. Good luck!

What should I do when the ignitor of my weber performer does not work?

Replace the battery (if it has one). If all you do is hold down the button and it starts to click then you have a battery ignitor.

How do i change the battery in the weber E310

Debbie, to remove the old battery, unscrew the push button cap on the ignitor and you will see the battery inside the holder. Take note of which way the old battery is facing before removing it. As that's the direction you want to install the new battery. Once you remove the old battery, check the holder for any corrosion on the battery contacts. If you see any, cleaning it off using a Q-Tip and some WD40 will do the job.

Hope this helped you. Please let me know. Thanks.

Ignite button will not press down

Since you have battery operated, electronic ignition, the AAA Battery inside the push button ignitor may have gotten lodged in the return spring, inside the battery holder. Remove the Ignitor Cap and remove the battery. Actually, if the batter is lodged in the spring, when you remove the cap, the battery will probably be stuck in it. Also, depending on how old the battery is, it may have leaked inside the holder and corroded the spring and the contacts. If so, try cleaning (removing the corrosion with a Q-Tip Soaked in vinegar. Once it's all removed, a light coating of WD40 will help prevent further corrosion..

Hopefully, the above will solve the problem. If not, you can purchase a need Ignitor Module directly from Weber http://www.aussiegrills.com/aussie_om.php

Hoped this helped you troubleshoot and solve the problem. Please let me know. Thanks and Happy Grilling!!

The electronic ignition doesn't light

Ellen, I assume you've changed the battery in the electronic ignition button/holder? If so, it may have been installed upside down. The positive (+) end should be facing you, when you installed the new battery.

If none of the above applies, check the wiring from the ignitor module all the way to the spark ignitors on each burner. Make sure they are all tightly connected and that there are no worn of frayed wires touching the metal parts of the grill. And finally, take a close look at each spark ignitor at each burner, they may be covered with grease. Alcohol and a cotton ball works nicely to clean those.

Hope this helped you to troubleshoot and solve the problem.

My husband and I just purchased a new Webber Q 200 grill. We have used it 5 times and now it doesn't start on the first click. It might start on the 10th click. Any ideas why this new grill is having...

From what you described, it sounds as if the peizo ignitor is not sparking correctly all the time. As, it may have lost a good contact.

Trace the ingnitor wire from the push button to the ignitor head. The wire just slides on to a long need like prong on the bottom of the peizo. Gently, but firmly pull this wire off by it's sleeve and push it back on again. That should solve the problem.

Also, turning on the burner for 5 seconds, before pressing the ignitor button will help too. Always turn the burner to LOW setting when doing this .

Happy grilling!!!

I installed a new 7509 ignitor on my 13 year old weber genesis gas grill and the gas does not ignite when pushing the ignitor button. I installed the ignitor with the box opening on the bottom and checked...

If the spark you see is in the ignitor box and not at the burner(s), then there's a wire loose somewhere or the ignitor is not grounded properly. Also check to see if the ignitor tips in the grill next to burner(s) are covered with grease. If so, clean them with a cotton ball dipped in alcohol. Check each ignitor wire at each ignitor , make sure they are secure,

How do you replace the battery for the starter

Unscrew the outer plastic ring of the Push Button Ignitor. The top will then come off and you will see a battery inside (Either a AA or AAA). Take note of which way it's facing. Replace the battery facing in the same direction as the old one came out. Use an Alkaline battery only. Reattach the top of the Ignitor button and you should be ready to go.

The electronic ignition on my grill no longer sparks to ignite the gas. I replaced the battery and cleaned the contact points but there was not any improvement. Can the entire assembly be replaced?

Yes you can replace the entire assembly.
However you can try adjusting the spark gap to see if this will resolve the issue.
Heat will often expand the spark gap thus rendering a spark impossible.
Small adjustments and be careful not to break the ceramic insulator.

Many gas grills use a static ignitor that does not require a battery.
Big red button you push that causes a snapping noise. This makes a spark and lights the gas. These can last quite a long time and inexpensive too.

Good luck!
