whenever i'm going through my pictures on my sanyo vpc-s500 it locks op on certain pics and says decoding error then i have to take the batteries out to unlock it then it does it again on that same pic. it started after i imported some pictures on my computer and it started right after i disconnected it and i went through it. so i tried to find the pics on my computer and they were there, so i tried to find a way to put them back on my camera but i couldn't.

Same as the others - after transferring pics from Sanyo VPC-S500 to computer some of the pics on the camera lock up citing decode error when you try to scroll through them. Then you have to remove batteries to make camera functional again. It's really wierd because it is only on a few of the pics and it doesn't happen every transfer!! Very frustrating. From Greg

I had the same problem just this morning...but I fixed it!

If you have manipulated any of the files on your opening them on your computer and modifying them...then the camera won't decode them. This is because the dimensions change and exceed the dimensions of the camera. Try returning your pictures in your camera file to their original state and saving it to the camera. Don't forget to delete the ones that don't work. This should work.

Need a driver for my Sanyo VPC-S500 digital camera. Unable to locate disk with the driver on it.

You may not need a driver for this camera. I assume you are using a computer with Windows installed.

  1. Go to settings on the camera by rotating the dial to the wrench icon.
  2. Turn the camera on and select Set-Up 2
  3. Select USB
  4. Select PC

Your camera is now ready to use with your computer.

Now plug your camera into your computer and check under My Computer for the drive to show.

You should be able to double click on the icon to open the files on your camera and copy them to your computer.

Sanyo VPC-5500 says "card locked"

SD cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card. If the switch is already in the proper position, slide it fully the other way and then back again.

Is there any free software I can download to retrieve photos on the sanyo VPC 5500 no memory card"

Sadly not, when you format the card or memory, it wipes it clean off the system. Unlike Hard Drives, there is no magnetic trace from which you could reconstruct the data. Sorry it's not good news :(

I cannot down load my pictures onto my computer

Are you getting some sort of an error? It may be that you have your memory card on read only mode.
