Question about Canon ZR80 Mini DV Digital Camcorder

1 Answer

Camcorder ZR80 saying remove cassette, won't record or play.

I have a Canon ZR80 camcorder and when you turn it on to play or to record it just starts beeping saying to remove the cassette. It will not even let you play back cassettes on it. Sometimes it does work, and others it won't. I have taken it in twice no to be repaired and of course it has not had this problem either times. Any ideas?

Canon ZR80 does not display any image; When playing back you can hear only the audio

Can you see the menus and icons. If you can, but can't see what you're recording, you may have an image sensor (CCD) failure. See this link for Canon's service notice regarding this issue and your options.

Black screen in REC mode, bars across the screen in Playback mode

My advice is that you should by a DV cleaning cassette. Put this in the camera and run it for 10 to 20 seconds only. running the cleaning cassette for a long time may damage the head.
good luck!

Cassette removal from dead Canon MV650 Camcorder

I just solved my own problem by disassembling the camcorder until I had access to the little motor which operates the eject mechanism. It sits on the corner of the mechanics subassembly, close to the cassette. By applying about 3.5 Volts DC from a regulated power supply to the two motor contacts, it started to operate (test which direction it needs to go by trying both polarities) and lifted the cassette out of the play position and ejected it. Only since the tape was still wound around the drum, I had to use a thin tool to turn the cassette hub in order to tighten the tape a bit. Then the protective cover of the cassette closed and I could slide the cassette out of the slot by hand. Bingo!

Recording stopped working

Beleive the CCD has stopped responding. A cheap way to verify this is to point an infrared remote towards the lens and press a key. This will usually provoke a response from the camera even if all else fails, barring a bad pickup device...accordianman

Canon ZR100 Mini DV Digital Camcorder Problem

I have a Canon4.gif ZR 10 And it does say remove cassette often and recently it eat the tape and destroyed our recordings.
Does this have something to do was the round small battery1.gif in the front part of the camcorder?

Is this a consumer complaint I feel uncomfortable because we have alot of Cassettes recorded and we are afraid to play them because it might chew them up.
There is a mini cassette player2.gif that can play the cassetes ????

Need Help!!!! What am I going to do ??? PNicioli@sbcglobal.net
