PS2 console fell off the table and npow wont spin the disc

its the lazer or disc

sounds like they damaged the lazer unit.....You could take it back if its not very old. so yea buy a new one

your motherboard probably got chipped or broke from the fall. i would send it in for repair.

If you find out that it is spinning then the laser was probably knock ajar and will need adjusted. There are good step by step instructions on several sites if you search for that. I had to do it to mine that would spin and then say disc read error. The whole thing does have to come apart but when you have it apart the adjustment is the easy part.

something might be broken on your ps2.just buy a brand new ps2/ps3 if you like

I just looked at a friend's PS2. Same story, tripped over cord, unit fell to floor. Unit powers up and sys. config. screen comes on but the drive didn't seem to be spinning up. Opened the case and found that the shaft of the drive motor for the laser tray had popped out of it's centering retainer ( little black bushing/holder). With the top off the unit, looking at the unit from the front, on the right side in the rear corner you'll see the motor. The worm shaft (bronze colored rod) runs towards the front of the unit. Where it ends it should sit centered in a black plastic holder, if it's off to the side a little pressure will pop it back in. Put the cover back on, and power it up, you should hear the drive spinning up. If it does you should be set. Hope this helps.
