Re: the smoke

Most people try to install these appliances themselves. The conversion kit comes with color coded gas nossels that need to be placed into the correct burners, I think your problem is a separate fuel nossel located under the oven burner in the back. it most likely needs to be removed, fliped over and put back in. The instructions are somewhat difficult to follow which people end up just skipping.
I suggest you download or find your conversion instructions and try this solution. There is a label on the fitting that tells you which way it installs (its reversible)

Re: the smoke

It is normal for this to happen the first time. Its just the oils from peoples hands who installed the element. It will go away.

Wire burning smell whirlpool range. Happens when oven or top are turned on. Smoke come out under control panel.

Had the same problem with my Whirpool range. Took off the rear panel and carefully plugged in and turned on the top oven. One of the terminals on the part labeled as 'Switch, Hi-limit' started to spark, glow and emit smoke. This part had 2 blue wires running to it. One came off of the top element in the top oven and the other fed back into the black plug on the control panel. Part in quests is held on with a single screw and has a part no. of 7403P993-60

Self clean mode causes a lot of smoke!

If the oven was really dirty, particularly with grease and unsolid food stuffs, then you will see smoke come out.

The self clean features basically incinerates the food residues in the oven. With incineration comes smoke.

If you feel there is a problem with the electrical circuits, then we would recommend that you call an appliance technician to inspect the unit for any faults.

Reply back what you find.

Kenmore 665.95029100 smokes (a lot) during self-clean mode. Have you ever heard of this?

Yes, you will get a lot of smoke if you have either waited too long to clean the oven or something has spilled in the oven and it was not wiped up in time. There is supposed to be a "smoke eliminator" element in the vent for self clean, if that element fails it can cause problems, but failure of the smoke eliminator is rare. Your issue may simply be that you need to run the clean cycle more frequently. You might have to put up with it once more and clean it up and then subsequent cleanings will not be as "smoky".

I hope this helps.

Oven control, possibly thermostat or oven selector switch

my dacor ER36G oven will not ignite. The top range works perfectly. When I turn on the oven, I don't even hear the gas or the ignition sequence as I used to. The heat preset light just blinks and the oven will not engage. I have reset the circuit breakers just in case, but nothing works.

Hotpoint self-cleaning oven

I believe they make an oven cleaner for self clean ovens.  Don't try regular oven cleaner.  Ruins finish.
