Question about GE Microwave Ovens

GE Spacemaker Over-the-Range Microwave Oven JNM1541SMSS only the Night Light works and not the Bright Light

GE Spacemaker Over-the-Range Microwave Oven JNM1541SMSS has 3 settings for the Surface Light: Bright, Night and Off. The panel button simply toggles through these in this order. Only the Night setting works. Using the standard T8 incandescent 40W bulb. It would be great if I could get the Bright light setting to work again. EDIT: the Off setting works, too, lol.

SOURCE: surface light "nightlight" will not work

We see (and repair) this a lot. The problem is on the control panel, which we regularly repair nationwide by mail for $39.95 postpaid in about a week.

At our Web site, you can get details of our service, plus we have a video available showing how to remove a typical over the range control panel assembly in under 5 minutes.

This light failure often occurs when a bulb goes out and the filament shorts, or when the bulbs are removed or installed without first unplugging the oven from the power line. Either can cause such a failure on the controller.

Sometimes this will also affect the exhaust fan operation, too. The lights and fan can be inoperable or stuck on too.

Feel free to contact me directly (and please remind me of your full model number) for more information & help.

That would be difficult to track down, but you can use a universal door switch "open or closed " selection making it handy, some tv repair shops still may carry some parts, appliance repairman another choice.

I have a GE Spacemaker model JVM140H 002. The night lights work, but the main lights do not work, I can hear the relay clicking and the night lights go out.

The lights can can be inoperable or stuck on or stuck in "night light" mode. Sometimes this will similarly affect the fan operation or inside light, too.
