There is a switch on the memory card, you just have to slide it upward.

If your photos are stored on the memory card, then removethe memory card from the camera and insert it into an USB memory card reader.Connect this USB memory card reader and memory card into the USB port of yourworking computer. Your computer will see this as an USB Mass Storage Device oran external storage device; you can then open the folder on the memory card andcopy the photos to your computer.Memory card reader is a handy device and is inexpensive. Camera keeps saying "card locked"

Look at your memory card. SD cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card.

When the CF card is loaded it says no memory.

Hello jesser..... Remove the card and look around the edge of the card for the wee lock. Open the lock. Reinsert the card. Turn on the camera and go into the menu. Find the format function. When you format the card it will erase any photos that are currently on the card and set it up to be used in your camera. Joe

I am unable to take photos with my samsung digimax s800 camera as the message 'CARD LOCKED' keeps coming up on screen. I have deleted loads of photos so the memory card is definitely not full. Any ideas?

I have a canon powershot sx200 IS and I recently went on vacation and took a lot of pictures using teh SD memory card provided with the camera. For some reason, after almost filling the card I received a...

The likely reason this keeps happening is that these cards weren't formatted in the camera when you first got them. However, don't do so just yet as formatting also erases the card. If you are using a memory card, take no more pics until you've recovered the photos, take the card out of the camera. This is to reduce the chance of you overwriting some of your "lost" photos. There are many good freeware photo recovery software options that are available to help you recover your photos. This blog article reviews and outlines several of the better ones. Now AFTER you've recovered the photos, format the cards IN THE CAMERA USING THE CAMERAS FORMAT FEATURE. Look for it, it's located under the "tools" menu (look for the item stating the card's memory capacity). This should rejuvenate both cards, and prevent reoccurrence.

Memory card locked

I noticed that this camera does not work well with cheaper memory cards. The only brand that works without fail is the SanDisk brand.
