The Laser driver on board the Slim PS2 Motherboard generally does not limit the current enough. What I have found is that the exceeding current flow that pumps the lens up and down actually gets the coils so hot that they melt the Lens and its frame. If the Slim is booting up fine, You only need to replace the Laser. NEw lasers come with a Solder blob on a small section of the circuit to prevent static damage in transport. One of the Sellers on Ebay will remove this blob for $1 extra. It is well worth that. It is quite agprevating to remove the solder Blob and not damage the circuit film, or spread solder across other circuitry.

Ps2 freezing games

I was experiencing the same problem on my ps2 slim scph-90004. When I put a game in my ps2 it loads but after some time it just freezes at the same spot.I went to many shops but they dont recognize my problem. Then i open my ps2 slim (Warning:Opening of ps2 my void your warranty) and saw the lens which was not adjusted. SO,if you are experiencing the same problem then use the above method(For slim only).Look at the rod near the lens which has two small clips on it. Open the screws on the clips and take out your ps2 lens.Clean it with a cotton.Set the lens in some different position and load your games .

On my ps2 after reading its disc, message will appear "disc read error"

Hello, you are most probably using a PS2 Slim, they have a very sensitive Lens Radiance. If the CD is a little scratched, a CD lens cleaner could help. Or if it is not a PS2 Slim, it must just require a CD lens Cleaner :)

It wont read anything

I'm going to say that if it wont read any disk your laser has died but lets try to clean the laser before you do anything else. check out the video below it will show you how to clean your ps2. you said you have the slim ps2 if not use the ps2 large videos they will show you step by step how to repair your system.

if you find that cleaning the laser does not work you can get a new laser lens assembly on Ebay cheap about $10.00 with free shipping. then you will want to use the lens replacement video its good for the full size and slim.

I hope I have been helpful please don't forget to rate and good luck if I can be of any more help just let me know.

I sprayed windex on my ps2 slim lens how do i fix it

Try carefully cleaning the lens with Isopropyl alcohol on a Q-tip. Any film left behind from the "Windex" may have caused distortion, or refraction of the lazer. Worst case scenario is that you may have been too vigorous cleaning the lens, and it may be out of alignment now.

My ps2 silm not working.

My PS2 slim wont spin a disc unless I put pressure on the top of it. As a temporary fix I place a 10 pound ******** on top of it while the PS2 is in the horizontal position.

Model 50001 fat ps2 cleaned the lens adjusted the arm...

If your lens is not moving up and down the track at all even in bootup then sounds like your motor is fried. What i'm referring to is this:

You can find similar parts like this .::HERE::.

To verify this, open your dvdrom tray. Power off the PS2 via the swtich on the back of the PS2 (thus leaving the dvdrom tray open) Tare down your PS2 and remove the four screws on the top of your DVD-ROM unit (if this is a fat model, if it's a slimline model you'll have to remove that whole platic piece covering the unit itself) You may have to do some research on this next part (via google) but remove your DVD-ROM tray so you can see the guts of the DVD-ROM. Then power on your PS2. And ask yourself the following questions as you observe.

1.) Does the lens move at all even right after bootup?

2.) Is the siver bar part of the motor(pictured above) turning at all to make it move?

If it doesn't turn at all then there is your problem. If it does turn, and the lens doesn't move at all then the ribbon cable that connects the lens to the board maybe damaged or the lens itself is damaged.

Hope that helps

Hi Pookie,

You got some pookie on the lens of your PS2 Laser. Clean the lens of the big original PS2 with Alcohol. If you have the SLim PS2 console, use Glass cleaner on the lens.
