SOURCE: wiring code for ceiling fan

These fans do not have a standard color code for the fan switch. What you can do is turn off the power, keep the white neutral connected. Then using the black power wire take one of the switch wires and connect to that black, turn the power on and observe the speed .. low mark it 1, medium mark it 2, high mark it 3. Repeat untill you have identified all the speed wires. Then connect these wires to the 1,2,3, terminations of your new switch

Ceiling fan speed chain broke off while fan was off. Replaced the 3-speed 4-wire switch with same type and rewired as before. Now fan only has 1 low speed. Could capacitor have gotten damaged?

capacitor tis toast. Have done what you did once. Just remember if/when replacing it...
The capacitor leads are color coded but the motor leads may not be! Tag the motor leads with colored tape before disconnecting the old capacitor, if necessary. Been there too! Differ by brands whether they are color coded.

Bionaire BF1209R motor possibly burned out from a string caught in blades What are some solutions besides getting a new fan

The motor has a fuse buried in the windings near where the wires connect to the motor. Sometimes, if you're careful, you can expose the wires and jump around the fuse. Otherwise a new motor in in order.

Fan switch for fan light combo

Unfortunately, there is no standard color coding for ceiling fan wiring. You note in your video that the replacement switch has an L(ine) terminal and there should be 1, 2, and 3 terminals as well for controlling fan speed. Check the switch you are replacing for similar marking. If you are in luck, you can replace by L and numbers rather than colors. I checked my entire file of fan installation information and nothing more explicit is provided

The lights come on but the fan blade doesnt turn

Check the thermal fuse located inside the motor fan winding wire. Check the crystal oscillator and micro-controller located in the printed control board of the fan. When it is replace with similar type, the fan will function again and ready to be use.
Thanks for asking.

Electrical box has one red and one black wire and the switch has two balck wires and a green wire. How do I connect them?

If I understand correctly, you are replacing a switch that has a black and red wire?
And your new switch has 2 black wires + green wire

The green is color-code for ground, and it always connects to bare ground wire.
The switch wires are not color-coded (both are black) so they can connect to either of the two wires that came off old switch.
If switch does not operate, they try reversing the two black wires.

As a general rule, the wires inside your box are color-coded.
The color-code information says:
The black is the Hot from breaker box. This wire carries electricity from the breaker to the switch.
The red wire goes to Load (fan, light, motor). This wire carries electricity to the Load when you turn ON the switch.

Blower motor not working for heat and air conditioner. need fuse locations and wiring color code to trace circuit

I've had this problem before too...first check to see if your fan can be rotated by hand (make sure the car isn't running while checking). If you can't spin the fan by hand, then you need to replace the fan. The cooling fan has a 40A fuse in the fuse box under the hood (driver's side). If your fan has siezed, it will trip this fuse too.

Hi, I have a problem with bionair widow fan 2300, it´s the R1 RESISTOR, but the over heating erase the color code of the resitor, you can help me?...sorry for my english

There is a major problem with the fan's electronic board. There is most likely a shorted capacitor, or some sort of fried transistor somewhere. depending on your electronics know how, try troubleshooting the circuit starting with it's power supply/input. but depending on the price of the fan, and the amount of aggrivation, I would just get a new one. Remember, most of the newer appliances today are ment to only last a few years, then die. I don't care what it is. all the companies want to do is make them as cheaply as possible, so they can sell more of them, and make more money. so don't be surprised if you can't fix it. some things are just not fixable.

I need to replace my switch for speed an i dont how my wires go

mcdevito75 here, The wires in the instuctions should show what color they hook up to, now just match those wires with the switch, a small tip, hook up a dark wire from the fan motor to a dark wire on the switch, a lite color wire from the fan motor to a lite color wire on the switch as you hook up each pair or wires, cover the bare wires remaining on the fan motor and switch with tape and try the fan to check spped.
