Problem for HP PC Laptops
Generic problem for all HP PC Laptops

Laptop is on but Monitor is off

Laptop is on but Monitor is off...was working fine earlier today. Opened back to change memory card. Turned laptop back on and the monitor did not light up. Tried checking cables, turned laptop off and on. Also tried function keys. Monitor completely black.

try using the old ram again the new ram may be bad or incompatible

connect external Display and check if working.
Circle through main display > Main dsply + extnl Dsply > external Dsply using the appropriate Fn key combination (Fn+F4 on my HP).
If only external dsply is working check every connection you possibly affected or bring to a repair shop.
