Kenmore is a Sears brand and those parts can be obtained at Sears and Kmart stores. For best results, you should have the part number you need or have a model number for the appliance so that you can determine the part you need.
If filter does not slide straight up an out, You need a Phillips screwdriver. . 1) take off both sides.6 screws each side, 4 under plastic caps. 2) top back there are 2 screws above the filter need the top of the unit. 3) on the top piece there are 2 screws, 1 on each side. Slide half of top off giving you better access to remove filter. Remember to reassembly in reverse

Before cleaning, turn off the air conditioner. To clean the filter, pull it straight up from behind the top of the air intake (on the back of the PAC C120). Vacuum off the filter. If it is very dirty, immerse it in warm water and rinse several times. (The water should not above 40 degrees Celsius (104 degrees F)) several times. Then allow the filter to air dry. Slide the filter back into the air conditioner and turn the unit back on.
Interestingly, your Kenmore Portable AC is manufactured by Delonghi. Occasionally, what you are experiencing happens when the humidity level is high and the air intake filter needs to be cleaned. That also means that you will need to drain the tank, at least once.
You know where the drain plug is, so you can either carefully take it outside to drain or put a low sided container, capable of holding 1 1/2 quarts of water under the drain plug. If you drain it inside, turn the Master ON/OFF Switch to OFF and unplug the unit, before attempting to drain it.
