If Caps Lock seems to be stuck, I would go ahead and try shutting down your laptop and unplugging it from the wall as well as unplugging the battery. After you have removed the power from it, let it sit for about 30 seconds before you plug everything back in. Sometimes things just get messed up and this will often resolve simple issues. If this did not fix your problem please let me know so we can try other options.

I hope this was of some help to you.

The number lock feature is enabled. You should see an indicator for the Num Lock (lit when on) that is next to the Caps Lock indicator.

You should be able to disable the lock by pressing Fn and Num Lock together on the keyboard. (On some Sony Vaio keyboards, type CTRL+ALT+NumLock or Shift+NumLock.) The number lock should be at the top of the keyboard near the F1-F12 keys. Sometimes the key is shared with the Scroll Lock function (otherwise it will be nearby). It's really easy for the Number lock to be enabled on some Sony keyboards; just some dirt between the keys can enable it when you didn't turn it on intentionally.

I hope this helps.

Problem with touchpad. when i try to type i get the uppercase numbers instead of the letters.

Hello,
I believe you mean keyboad, because the touchpad is just the equivalent of a mouse.
Look for a key called CAPS LOCK. It may be pressed locking your keyboard to enter only caps. Usually this key has a LED that lights when key is in LOCK position.

Question: What are uppercase numbers?

Hope it helps.

You need to press the NUM Lock key.
The NUM lock key is usually the same key as the ScrLk key but to select the NUM lock you need to press and hold down the Shift key and then press the NumLk/ScrLk key. A LED light will light up to indicate the number keypad is on.

Problem with sony vaio keyboard

Sounds like you've got something stuck under your shift key. Carefully clean out under the keys, try a paintbrush and a hoover (on low suction if possible).

Be careful not to knock any of the keys off. They're held on by small clips which pop out or break easily.
