Dark picture..not bright picture

The whole point of a webcam is to be able to see the person you are speaking with, and let them see you. When the image broadcasted by your camera is too dark, the person on the viewing end won't see anything but shadows and dark shapes. Learn how to brighten your webcam image so the people you chat with can see you.

Place lamps behind and to the side of the webcam. This casts a light on your face, but the lamps will not wash out the image because they are behind the camera. Turn off lamps that are behind you. You have trouble seeing things when you are looking in the direction of the sun or a light bulb. Your webcam has the same problems. Don't make it stare at a bright light. Open up a white screen on your computer to brighten your face. The white screen will create the brightest possible light from you computer screen and help lighten your webcam image. This option is best when lamps are not available. Open up an empty tab in your Internet browser, or a blank Notepad document, and expand it to the full of your screen. Adjust your webcam settings. The settings available to you will depend on your webcam, but many of them offer a "Brightness" setting that you can increase to lighten your webcam. Open the program that came with your webcam, then look for a "Settings" or "Options" menu. Increase the "Brightness" setting until it has lightened your webcam enough.

It is possible to hold a conversation with someone who is not on your friend list, however; if you are trying to talk to someone you have previously chatted with but does not show up on your list of contacts, check to make sure that you have added the person. All of your added contacts will show up on your list; the ones who are offline will have a grayed-out Skype icon and the contacts who are online will have a green icon next to their name. If you cannot see the person's name, you may need to search for them and create a new contact. b> Availability b> Skype users have the option to change their availability when they are signed into the program. The status availability options are: offline, online, SkypeMe!, invisible, away, not available and do not disturb. If the person you want to talk to is signed in but has selected the "offline" or "invisible" availability, you will not see them as online. For the name to show up on your list of online contacts, the person must change their availability. b> Blocked b> If you cannot see a person that you have already added to your list, there is a chance that the person has blocked you. When a Skype user chooses to block you, you will not be able to see anything about availability. Even if the user is online and accepting messages, you will not be able to see the status and messages will remain undelivered. b> Video b> If you are trying to hold a video chat with a Skype contact but cannot see the person, there are several possible reasons. If either of your Internet connections are too slow to support streaming video, the video will not come through. If you have been chatting by text and switch to video, the other person will need to enable the video stream before you can see them. Other culprits can include out-of-date webcam drivers, unplugged webcams or another video-enabled application running at the same time.
Share Both Screens in Skype Sign in to Skype and right-click on the contact you want to share screens with. Click "Call" to place a call to the user. When he answers, the Skype call toolbar will appear beneath his avatar. Click the double square icon on the toolbar. This is the share button. Click "Show Entire Screen." Your screen is now visible. Ask the other person to click on the double square icon and then "Show Entire Screen."

Hope this helps.
