I have heard that if you take it to the store, they will clean corrosion out from the underside of the ball that causes interference. I have the same problem intermittenly but I haven't taken it in yet.

you need to use something small to push the red pin right in, make sure there is nothing blocked in the roller and this should reset the motor. The roller needs to be switched on next to the power button is well.

Blackberry Curve rollerball scrolls but will not select when push

Try removing the silver cover around the scroll ball, and remove the ball. There should be a little white square underneath it. If there is no white square, but a red square, then it could be water damage. I had the same issue with mine.

Rollerball will not move to the left direction

i had the same the same issue with my roller ball and found out that some how i got oil or some grease on the ball itself. the way i fixed was i "aggressively" wiped the face of the phone back and forth on a cloth and it dried it up. the roller ball worked perfectly after that. it sounds rough or crude but it works.

Hp rollerball mouse model M8590PLJ

Flip the small rat upside down!
Remove the ball by turning the round plastic ball retainer counter clockwise. Clean the ball with soapy water, rinse it and dry it, and set it aside.
Look inside the mouse, you should see three white nylon or black plastic rollers, scrape any dirt that might be caked on to them, and clean them throughly with some alchool or acetone.
If you have a can of compressed air, point the the nozzle inside the mouse to expell all the dust out, if you have no air, use your mouth, blow hard!
Put the ball back on the mouse, the plastic retainer (turn clockwise to lock in place). and you're all set to go!
