SOURCE: I have a solid red light and the software says

This can be fixed by stretching out a solenoid spring on the power cord side of the printer. The solenoid acts as a clutch to stop the spinning developer actuator at the right spot.

Open up the right side (power cord side) of the printer (take off top cover, then take off side cover). Then, find a solenoid (little metal square) that touches the white plastic vertical spur gear. Take the spring off the solenoid. Now, put the spring back on - only this time you will attach one anchor point to the middle of the spring as to pre-stretch the spring for more tension.

The problem is that the spring gets weak over time / the cogs round out over time and the solenoid finger is overcome by the spinning cogs, and resulting in selecting the wrong developer.

i'm not a fan of this machine, but after looking harder at this machine, i noticed that yes, this solenoid, is like most samsung solenoid, it is week, may have to squeeze it back together, as well as check to see if the foam pad is sticking, its just a micro second delay, but enough to cause error. small piece of tape would resolve the sticking problem, and squeezing the solenoid "u" shape to make sure that all is working.

Deve home sensor error

You could try replacing the Image Unit (but these are quite expensive). This error actually refers to an optical sensor located in the gearbox (RHS of machine). The sensor controls the drive to the individual dev units, hence the "dev home error" if it malfunctions.
Probably a job for an engineer.....

Brand New printer status led RED, Smart Panel error "dev home"

Samsung CLP-315 Dev Home error
It appears that the Dev. Home error is very common for Samsung printers. It obviously has different reasons. In my case I solved it by stabilizing the deviation clutch. It was too unsteady and the dev. sensor recognized a fault.
The dev. clutch is situated under the right cover, which is the power supply side of the printer. To remove this cover you need to firstly remove the top cover, which is held by two screws on the front. Then uncover the right side by unscrewing one screw on the back, near the power supply inlet and unclip a couple clips on the top side of the cover. After removing it you have to find the deviation electrical clutch. Check if it is too unsteady. If it easily moves, you need to somehow stabilize it, in my case by a couple of leather straps under it, so that they press it up and make it steady: 5_19_2012_1_08_58_pm.jpg

After that simply check if you have stabilized it properly. If you have the green light must turn on after switching the device on.

NB! Be extremely careful when power is ON, because there is high voltage running. I'd suggest that you would stabilize the thing with non metallic item to keep safe. Good luck!

I had the same problem and look it up in service manual,
there the say Home of development is not checked or checked at a abnormal time. solution Clutch of development or mainbord must be checked.
when i opened the right side cover i vind out that the development clutch moved two parts do it was suppose to move one part, when i tightened the spring on the solenoid the problem was over and the clutch stopped at the right place. its easy to do.
