Question about Olympus FE-280 Digital Camera

1 Answer

Beach Now doesn't work

I took it to the beach and when I got back and turned it on the lens went in and out about 5 times and then just shut off. Can I get it repaired? I think sand probably got in the lens.
My warranty I believe is up but can I still send it in and pay for a replacement?

Is the replacement a few dollars less than a new one and then S and H is it worth that? Or buy new...? Never head of any company exchanging a camera for any difference in price unless an extended warranty... Yours really UP? then You lose buy new!
That is your choice! If you want???
Beach salt and then moisture it may just be scrap in a few months clean it out experiment take it out of it's shell seperate it from the lens submerge the electronics in some electronis cleaner solution blow it out with dry Nitrogen that is Ideal or just the 30 lbs of air canned of course. the lense will need attention too..
Good luck...

I went to the beach, and took puctures there. When i got home and tried to use my camera, the lens wouldnt fully expand and the camera says "lens error"

My guess is that the lens has some sand in it. You might just want to open the lens as much as possible and give it a good cleaning with rubbing alcohol on a cotton swab as well as blowing it out with canned air. I know it seams kinda nuts, but if cleaning it doesn't work try to manually push the lens in slightly to free up some stuck sand. Also, you could tap the camera on a hard surface with a small piece of fabric under it to try to knock out some more of the sand.
Hope that helps!

Lens error.....restart camera. Tried over and over again. Nothing works. HELP!

Went to the beach yesterday, by the end of the night my camera gave me this error: "lens error, restart camera". The lens would no longer come out.

I figured sand got stuck within the lens, so I did the following:

1. Turn camera up-side-down (with lens facing down)
2. Gently tap the sides of the camera (to loosen particles in lens)
3. Turn camera on
4. The lens will eventually come out
5. Gently tap the sides of the lens
6. Turn camera off (continue tapping side of lens as it retracts)

I turned the camera on and off a couple of times to ensure I removed all sand particles from the camera.

Now the camera works...thank god....

thanks.

Problem with M340 Kodak easy share digital camera..( automaticall

I had the same problem after a day at the beach. What I did was get a can of compressed air (from the computer section) and blow air around the lens as I repeatedly turned it on. It took about five cycles, but I eventually cleared whatever was preventing the lens from fully opening.

Good luck.

Stops brewing before all water empties from reservoir

I went to Hamilton Beach site and read the troubleshooting. I followed there cleaning instructions and reduced grind time on my coffee and the machine is working perfectly again. I stressed over this problem for a long time before following their operating instructions. Have had the machine for over two years now and it's back to working perfectly. i.e. Run a pint of white vinegar through it. Wait 30 minutes and run another full vat of water....wait again and run another full vat of water. If you're grinding your own coffee, you may be grinding it too fine. Otherwise Hamilton Beach recommends the kind of coffee to use. Also the problem maybe too dense of a filter. This is all info I got on the H. Beach troubleshooting site. Good Luck !!! Mine is back to working great !

Does it need regular cleaning?

Hi,
'
Sand generally has no effect on the electronic side of the camera, however it will definitely can cause problems with the mechanical aspect of the camera such as the zoom lens. this can be removed with a can of compressed air.

Suntan lotion likewise should not be any problem except for smudges on the housing/casing and especially bad for the lens. Additionally, the lotion would help the sand adhere to crevices and nooks of the camera. Wiping should get you just fine.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.
