I have a shop vac. model 500x 1h.p. Center section separation impeller cost of new? Or throw away?
Hello,
I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure. There are only 2 ways that I can think of in answer to your question. Either you can replace the fan impeller or you have to replace the entire motor. You would have to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or contact the Shop Vac factory @ the website or to call the factory @ the phone 3 listed below; or check your owner’s manual.

So if you need further assistance, please feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or in the yellow pages, or contact the factory phone number or website to further assist you with your questions.

Does shopvac series 90ln have brushes in motor & how to replace them

A lot of shop vac motors have brushes, due to the motor's power needs. Unplug it (obv) and get to taking off all the covers until it's just you and the motor. On most shop vacs, you shouldn't need to remove the impeller (fan), and it's better just left alone. The brushes are usually just under spring tension.

Wiring diagram shop vac model QAL80A ON/OFF SWITCH

You may be able to fix it with a simple 15 amp car fuse. My model 14LT400 suddenly stopped after a shoelace wrapped around the impeller. Here is a picture of what i did. The car fuse literally slides right into where the thermal fuse is connected and had blown. Tip: either before or after you get the fuse in place remove the plastic around the fuse. I have put anther 15-20 hours on the vacuum without any issues

Qul650 shop vac

In most of the current model Shop Vacs, the motor is virtually the last thing that will come off the top of the vacuum itself. There are no repair parts available for the motors, but if it's under warranty, the company will send you a complete new power unit., motor and all. All you'd have to do is unpack it and install it on the tank.

My shop vac does not seem to have as much pick up power as it once did. It will not even pick up small debris and paper.

Turning the unit on with the motor NOT inserted into the "can" do you see the impeller moving? Should be connected to the drive of the motor one way or another. Check for debris on both ends of the motor shaft to be sure the motor is moving freely. If possible, hit both ends with some WD 40 to reduce friction. Be sure the hose is clear. I push a broom handle through mine from time to time to see if there is anything clogging it. Tear in the hose or in the couplings? Tape or replace. When was the last time you replaced or cleaned the filter?

Brushes not rotating on my Hoover Steam Vac Dual

The brushes are all connected to a single shaft. This square shaft is connected to 2 sets of gears and then another shaft which is turned by an impeller (suction from the vaccum pump is used to turn the impell and thus the brushes). There are 2 bearings that the impeller shaft turns on. It's likely these are rusted up and just need a bit of WD 40. Took me 30 min to take apart, lube, and put back together. Remember, its plastic. If things won't come apart, look for another screw. Mine was a brand new unit and the top bearing was rusted.

Has no suction

I just went through the same thing.  Your fan or impeller is probably broken off the shaft and no longer on the motor shaft.  My local repair shop wants $9 for the impeller and $29 to replace it. You will have to take the thing apart and put on a new fan or impeller blade and I'm still trying to do that to my vac.  I think I will have to heat the nylon impeller with a hair dryer to get it onto the shaft and then tighten the left hand nut. My vac is held together with torx screws so add a torx screwdriver to the price if you don't have one and want to do the job yourself.
