I output the sound to a Sony receiver. The sound was clear from the sound board, but now is staticy with faint sound. I have updated the driver . . . no change . . . and then restored the default . . . no change. I've checked all of the connections.

- I reinstalled the card and the driver with no change. The speakers are fine because I can send output through an audio input connected to a TV. I reviewed the different driver updates at Creative labs and all said they weren't for my card version, which is connected to an HP Pavilion MediaCenter system. I don't understand how the speakers could work fine and then not.Clarification Request

how are you connecting it? (line out to line in or speaker out to line in) Is the sound clear if you just connect to speakers?

Make sure that the output (from sound card) is compatible with input of receiver. Most aux inputs on receivers are 1 volt peak to peak. Turntable and tape inputs are different.
