Question about Sylvania 6419TC 19" TV

3 Answers

Sylvania SST4272 Child was playing with the universal remote. The TV is now stuck on A & E channel, there is no sound, there is a number 1 in each corner of the screen, and another numerical code 053-0.11 followed by a small black box near the top of the screen. I have reprogrammed the remote several times. Unable to access the menu. Unable to change channels, control the volume, or turn the TV off. When I unplugged the TV, waited, and then plugged it back in, it came on with this same screen showing the 1's in each corner, etc. Manually, I pressed the volume and channel buttons and am able to toggle through a few things - brightness, color, tint, and other things that I don't understand like "7F= a number" etc. It also mentions A French option. This TV came only with a Spanish option. I have no control over the TV right now. Also, what does "C/D - " mean? That appears on the screen after the French option. How can I just reset the TV, or get into the menu mode? I think I am stuck in some type of manufacturer's menu or something. Can you help?? Thanx.

I have the same problem. But mine is a SST4273. Seems to be in the service menu and power cycling doesn't do any good. Worse yet, the power button on the front is missing along with the original remote.

I have the same problem with the SRT2227S model. it started when I pressed the "info" button using a universal remote. I still have the original remote.

I have same problem except the coaxial cable dos not work now. The 7F there is number and letter next to it. What is that supposed to be set at? It works if I first run it through a vcr and then use A/V wire in the game mode.

I had the same problem with a Sylvania SRT2227S. I kept trying to fix it using the remote but after reading your posting I pressed the Volume (down) button, which cycled through the same menus you mentioned. Then I pressed the Power button on the TV and that fixed it.

The problem started for me when pressed PIP, CC, and Guide buttons on a Philips universal remote control. My TV does not support these functions and it seems to put it in this "service mode". Now I can fix it by pressing Volume (down) or Menu then the Power button on the TV (do not use the remote as it is useless when the TV is in this mode). I hope this works for you too.

The first guy who answered is right. I had this same problem, with a different model, but I tried what he said. Hit the menu button on the TV, then scroll to the "7F" option that the first question mentioned (I did this by hitting "menu" and then the Volume Down button several times. Then turn off the tv. Then you can turn it back on.

And to the guy whose power button is missing, mune was too. you can reach in there with something plastic (i used a mechanical pencil) and flick a switch on the right side of the hole, just fiddle around with it. I had to turn it back on with a remote though.

Good luck!

I have a sylvania tv with vcr/dvd combo. I do not have the remote for this tv and I need to get into the menu to auto tune the channels? Tried my universal remote with not avail. Please help!!!

You need a more advanced universal remote, that's all. I had the problem too; my first universal remote had only power, channel, volume and guide. A better remote will be bigger with more buttons and have menu options you can use.

How can I play my Emerson vcr/dvd dual deck to play on my sylvania tvk139k with no remote?

Try pressing the channel down button repeatedly until the lowest channel is displayed. Now keep going to see if it changes to an external port like F1 or R1 If that won't get you a picture try going to shopjimmy website to get a new remote.

How can I input my sylvania 27" into video 1 or video 2 without the remote? The menu does not offer a game option nor a video 1 or video 2 option.

Here are the instructions for the TV.
http://www.sylvaniaconsumerelectronics.com/pdf/om/6427TE.pdf
They do not say how to select Video or Game mode without the remote. Try connecting a vcr or game to the input and do the Channel Pre-Select process to see if that will pick up the input as part of the Channel Scan. If it does you will be able to get to Game or Video using the channel up/down buttons. Another option is to get a replacement universal remote that has a code for your TV and will assign a button for Game or Video.

Sylvania 6313CB 13" TV/VCR replacemnt remote

We have a Sylvania 6313CB TV/VCR combo.  I bought a universal remote and the code would not work when I tried to program it to the "TV" button using all those possible codes listed in the books.  So, on the universal remote, there was a button named "VCR" and when I programmed in the code "0000" all worked.  This was a $6.00 universal remote named "One For All"  we bought at the Big Lots store.
Specifically, here is what I did:
Turned TV on Pushed the "VCR" button and light blinked once Pushed and held the "set" button until it blinked twice Released the "set" button and entered the numbers "0000" Pushed the on/off button and it worked including volume, channel up/down and channel change by entering the channel number.
Hope this works for you too.

Sylvania 27 in tv picture

It sounds like your vertical has shrunk, causing the picture to look squashed. Most likely a bad component in the vertical output stage.

REMOTE DOES NOT WORK ON SYLVANIA TV

It sounds more like a problem with the TV, than the remotes. It's possible that the IR reciever or microprocessor for it have pooped out. It's something that would have to be serviced by a shop, but due to the age and size it would likely be cheaper to replace the whole TV.
