Hi,

It seems like you had a problem with your flexy cable. Try to check your screen flexy cable, sometimes it slips on its hinge and sometimes wears.

SOURCE: no picture when vga cable is connected

Most tvs can only handle a couple resolutions (ie 640x480) through the pc input. Even some HD tvs can only do 480. Check that your video is turned on and setup to the acceptable resolutions.

right click your desktop
go to properties
click settings tab
click on the 2nd monitor
make sure the box is clicked at the bottom
"extend my windows desktop onto this monitor"

SOURCE: Dynex 19Inch Vga no signal

You may need to set up the video card to see the TV so you can display the computer on it.Somewhere in the setting for your video card should be settings for that.

SOURCE: i cannot get my netflix movie to play on my vizio flat screen tv

There is a key that looks like a monitor, It may have to be used with a FNC or CTL key (look at the color - matches the FNC or CTL color. It should go laptop, tv out, both, laptop, tv out, both etc as hit it.

ASUS K50AF no post

If the laptop boots up all the way and you don't see an image on the lcd screen or on the external monitor then the video card inside the computer is bad.

Shine a flashlight on the dark screen to see if you barely see the icons on the desktop. If so, then the LCD Inverter is bad.

Plug in an external monitor and see if the display shows up on it. It can be any kind of monitor even the old big fat crt monitors as long as it has a vga cable to connect to your computer's vga port. If the video shows on the external monitor that proves your video card is ok, ,but your lcd screen is bad. The video will show on most systems when you reboot without you having to do anything. Some systems will require you to hit the FN (Function key) + F1 thru F12. Hold down the FN key then hit the correct key for displaying on the monitor (F1 thru F12). The correct key will normally have CRT/LCD on it or it will have the icon of a display.

If you see no icons by shinning a flash light and the external monitor works, then your screen is bad. If you see no icons by shinning the flash light and nothing shows on the external monitor, then most likely your video card is bad.

On acer aspire5755g lcd flash lines will appear and disappear when clicking on display

Sounds like your lcd is going bad. Try tapping the lcd on the back of the lid and see if the lines flash or appear. Try connecting another monitor to the computer. Borrow a monitor from a neighbor, friend, relative or co-worker and connect it to the computer. If the Borrowed monitor displays ok without the flash lines then the video card inside the computer is good, but your original lcd screen is bad. If the Borrowed monitor displays the flash lines like your lcd screen then your video card inside the computer is bad.

Plug in an external monitor and see if the display shows up on it. It can be any kind of monitor even the old big fat crt monitors as long as it has a vga cable to connect to your computer's vga port. If so that proves your video card is ok. I have a dell inspiron (600m) andi also have a dell flat screen television. i used to be able to connect my laptop and tv, so the tv would become a flatscreen. i would go to VGA and my laptop would appear....

I assume you would switch the TV's source to VGA. Is that correct?

Connect it the same way you did before, with the VGA cable. Then hit Fn + F8 on your keyboard, to switch the signal from your laptop screen to the VGA cable. Then select VGA as your source on your TV as you did before.

If that does not work, please post and tell us what type of television you have.

I have used 15 point vga to connect laptop to my tv so can use tv screen as a monitor, tv screen just stays blank. how do i switch to external monitor?

Look at your functions keys. most common is F3 but sometimes another key, it will have a little monitor on it, or two screens with a slash.
Press your function (fn) button and this key, it should toggle between Laptop monitor, External, both.
(this is assuming you want to clone your monitor, which is what you described).

Trying to connect my Asus laptop to my TC-32lx60 panasonic TV via HDMI

You must first verify that the VGA cable from the laptop to the TV is in good condition. You must also verify that the VGA connector on the computer, and the connector on the back of the TV are not defective. It can also be critical that the computer display output is set to a mode that the TV can use. Consult the user guide about the TV set for detials for compatible resolution settings from a computer.
