Dvd's not playing in correct color

When i connect my upconverting dvd to my vizio lcd through an hdmi cable, my dvd's play only in bright blue/orange/pink. I have gotten a new hdmi cable and dvd player and it still happens, now i'm wondering if it is the tv.

i just bought the tv brand new about 3 months ago. and just today, i tried hooking the dvd player up with a/v cables and the dvd's played fine. so is this a problem with the hdmi cable? this is the second one i've bought and i confirmed with the store rep that they play up to 1080p resolution. i'm lost as to what to do next.

Which input on the TV and which output on the DVD player are you using? HDMI is the best and easiest. Next is standard video plus audio (3 leads, yellow - video, red and white - audio). If you are using the component input, you can get B&W if you have the leads incorrectly connected. If you're going from component to video in, you might have the same result, I'm not certain. I hope this helps you resolve your problem. Let us know.

Where do to plug in the cord to connect the tv to the DVD player?

Hello

You have several options for connecting your DVD player to your GV42L FHDTV10A - HDMI,

Component, S-Video and Composite (AV) inputs. Based on your home theater configuration, you can
decide which option is the right one for you.
connected to the HDMI input of the VIZIO GV42L FHDTV10A for optimal results.

To maintain the display quality, use a VIZIO certified HDMI cable available up to 10 meters or less.

1. Turn off the power to the LCD HDTV and DVD player.

2. Connect a HDMI cable to the HDMI output of your DVD player and the other end to the HDMI

Input (white color area) at the rear of the LCD HDTV.

3. Turn on the power to the LCD HDTV and your DVD player.

4. Select HDMI using the INPUT button on the remote or side of the LCD HDTV, or directly by
pressing the HDMI button on the Remote Control.

a) If you are already using the HDMI 1 input for another component, or you do not want to use

the HDMI 1 input for the DVD player, you can connect the DVD player to the HDMI 2

connection.

b) Refer to your DVD player user manual for more information about the video output
requirements of the product.

Correct you wiring, color stream uses red, blue, green and they have to be hooked up correctly. the problem is obviously not in your tv or the DVD player.

This is most likely happening because your tv is upconverting the dvd signal to be compatible with your hdtv. If your dvd player has no upconverting feature of its own then it is more likely to happen. It's just your tv trying to compensate for the low quality signal coming from your dvd player resulting in intermittent scrambling or "noise". You should try to invest in a blu ray player when possible.

Hdmi Issue

Most new HDMI DVD players use High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection (HDCP)on the HDMI output. If you try to play this on an older TV that is not compliant with these new standards it will not work. This standard came out late in 2004 that is why your older player still works. There is also a service bulletin from JVC about upgrading the software on your TV for HDMI compatiblity issues. If you want a pdf file of the bulletin I can send it to you.
