Question about Hoover HDC6 Electric Dryer

1 Answer

Will not switch on- button will not stay on

The unit makes a buzzing sound and will not stay on, when the on/off button is pressed. Bussing seems to come from the relay on the small pcb inside the unit.

When we bang the side of the unit while pressing the on switch, it will then stay on. But pressing the on / off switch dose not turn it on. Is this switch a micro switch like the heat one below it which clicks on and then push to click off.

Or is it a contact type which activates the relay. If this type i suspect the relay is duff.

I have the same problem, it heats up fine but the on/off switch will not stay in. If kept pressed in the dryer will work but makes a buzzing noise.

    Any ideas ????

Unit is hot all around the freezer. Items on the top two shelves of feezer are not frozen. A kind of buzzing sound when the unit is running.

I would check the condenser grill. It sounds like it is dirty and not able to disperse the compressor generated heat to the air.

Now the bussing sound, is your condenser grill fan operating? If not, then I would suspect the fan motor, or contactor-relay or the start capacitor.

I have a 92 caprice and it makes a buzzing noise when in drive and reverse. When I put it in park the buzzing stops. What could this be?

The noise is from your transmission.
Run the car until it's hot. On a level surface take the tranmission through the gears PRNDL and back again into Park. Check the level of transmission fluid with the car running. Top it off to where the lvel is between the ADD and FULL marks. DO NOT overfill.
If the level is good or topping it of doesn't fix it you'll need to have the transmission checked

The stop button will not stay and makes a buzzing

This sounds just like you have a bad door switch. You check it by taking the two wires off of it and taping them together. Then try the dryer. It should take off and run normally. If so, replace door switch. Good luck.
