Hello,

Please reboot your system then press F8 to start with a safe mode. Then uninstall the driver that causes the problem then try to check if that driver is supported with your Operating system. Or if the step above is not doing well and the same problem you encounter then i advice to reinstall your Operating system and next time do not install the driver that cause your system error.

How to Completely Erase a Hard Disk Drive

Erasing a hard drive is a step that most computer users overlook. Just simply going through your data and using the delete key in Windows does not entirely delete the data. This just simply removes the shortcuts making it not visible to the user. If a person wanted, they can easily use software to obtain the data off the hard drive.

Fun Fact
A study was done and were 158 used disk drives were collected and the data retrieved. The two students found 5,000 credit card numbers, medical reports, detailed personal and corporate financial information, and several gigabytes worth of personal e-mail and pornography on those drives.

Disk Wiping Methods

There are two common methods for erasing data. These are formatting and wiping. Formatting a hard drive will not erase the data on the disk but will delete the address tables making it more difficult for average users to see the data, however, a computer specialist who is skilled can obtain some or all of the data using tools. Disk wiping is a more effective method and basically write over the data with 1's or 0's. The more times the disk is overwritten the more secure it is.

Disk Wiping Software
There are numerous free software utilities out there that will wipe your hard drive. I will recommend two programs and briefly go over them.

Eraser - Click here for download

Eraser is a advanced security tool for Windows that will completely remove data from your hard drive. It has a simple to use interface and uses multiple wiping methods such as Peter Gutmann's paper Secure Deletion of Data from Magnetic and Solid-State Memory.

You can use this program to delete files, folders, recycle bin contents and even free space on a drive. Click here for a quick start guide which will give you the basics.

-You can even use Eraser to wipe your flash drive.

Darik's Boot and Nuke - Click here for download

Darik's Boot and Nuke is basically software you boot your computer into. You can load the software into a floppy disk, CD, or USB stick if supported by your computer. Once you boot into the program, you select the wiping options and it will do the work. This is an effective program and I have used it before.

In order to boot your computer to the software you will first need to load the software on the media(usb/cd/floppy) described above then insert the media into your computer. Turn off your computer and as it is booting up you want to go into your computer BIOS. Usually, it will tell you what to press to get into BIOS during the boot up process. Once inside the BIOS you will need to change your boot order so it boots to the media device first. Once done, exit the BIOS saving your changes and the computer will boot into the media and start the data wipe software.

Tips

-If you are installing a new operating system I recommend you first wipe the hard drive using the methods described above, then formatting the drive for the new operating system. If you are giving away the hard drive or computer, I would recommend you wipe the hard drive before doing so.

Can you reload last known good configuration? Tap F8 as the computer boots up to pull up safe mode, etc options. If that doesn't work, you're SOL. The fact you cannot even boot up safe mode pretty much means you're hosed. If you have files on that hard drive, I would recommend pulling the hard drive out and getting the data off w/ a hard drive adapter. Once all files saved, I would wipe the drive and reinstall the operating system. Sorry. Situations like that ****.

Hi, My Gateway NV53A will not bootup. It keeps saying please insert your boot disc. Problem is that it never came with one. Can anyone help?

It sounds like your system can't read the disk sector that contains your boot up software. You will need to get a system disk from somewhere to boot up. Your hard drive may need wiped and reformatted. Try calling your tech support to see what they offer. If the computer is new I would take it back.

Acer travelmate 2410 comes on does not load past the acer screen

if last known good configuration wont work (go to advance boot option before it boots to windows, then choose last known good configuration), you must reinstall your operating system using the OS cd that came with the computer. it will wipe out all your files but it will restore your computer to factory default. that is if the hard drive hasn't failed yet. if so, if OS reinstallation still doesn't work, then you have to replace the whole hard drive.

Wiping WD hard drive

I suggest that you use Darik's Boot and Nuke ("DBAN")application to completely Esare the Hard Drive. It is a freeware application.

Darik's Boot and Nuke ("DBAN") is a self-contained boot disk that securely wipes the hard disks of most computers. DBAN will automatically and completely delete the contents of any hard disk that it can detect, which makes it an appropriate utility for bulk or emergency data destruction.

Need to wipe my Hard drive (Acer 4720z), and don't know how to

Its called format but first u need to know what devices u have and what u wanna keep. the files u wanna keep if u dont have the external hard drive write them to cd or dvd if u have a brand comuter u can download the drivers for your computer from the manufacturers website. if u need to do the format then u most go to bios with delete or f2 key mostly in boot ordr u most but the cd/dvd drive as first. after this u save it. and reboot your computer.then insert the windows cd. when it ask from u to boot from cd press enter or any other key.
then u most use the format in setup and after that reinstall it to the same harddisk.
