Question about Garmin StreetPilot c530 GPS Receiver
This is not a job for amateurs. You will need a few special tools, and a new battery (3.7 volt / 2200 mAh).
1- Use an old credit card to gently pry off the aqua-blue bezel from the face. That's the piece of trim that fits around the screen.
2- You will see four small #0 Phillips screws. Use a #0 Phillips driver to remove these four screws. You must have a steady, firm grip, and apply a good amount of pressure, or you can strip the heads. Try turning each screw just a tiny bit at a time, until they turn easy.
3- Sit the unit on a table, with the display facing up, and the serial # facing you.
4- Grip the front part, with the display, and pull it out of the back dish, about 4 cm. You may have to jiggle it a bit, to get the steel bracket holding the satellite detector to come loose. Do not yank it further than about 4 cm or you can rip off the flat cable.
5- Fold the display down, toward you, and rest it flat on the table.
6- You will see a steel bracket holding the battery in the dish part. Remove the two #0 screws holding the battery bracket. You may have to peel it off the battery, if there is adhesive around the battery.
7- The hard part: You have to decide to solder the new leads to the speakers (if your new battery came with the special connector), or else clip the 3 wires from the old battery and splice the old leads/wires to the new battery.

You can also try pressing the wrench key at the bottom of the main screen. Then press the down arrow key. You should see a Volume icon. Press this and you should see an icon for Navigation volume. Make sure it is where you want it.

There is no way to just "reset" the PIN. If you don't have the correct PIN, you must take the unit to the location at which the PIN was set. Your only other option is to return the unit to Garmin.
