It sounds like there was a steam leak in the machine that affected the main board. From what you have given me that is the only thing I can think of that could cause the machine to malfunction in that way.

I can only suggest that you should use genuine HP ink carts. Try all new carts and realign again. Hopefully it is under warranty. HP is good at exchanging.
