My riding mower 4500 with 54" deck. Needs a replacement choke cable but can't find any online for that model #917276901. IS there an equivalent?

It is likely that the pto engagement cable has broke and needs to be replaced. Lower the deck all the way down. With the engine off, kneel on the right side of the mower. look under the mower and find the end of the cable on the deck. It will be near the center rear of the deck and will have a spring on the end of the cable. Once the cable is located reach up and operate the pto lever and watch the cable. The end of the cable should move with the lever, pulling the idler pulley back and tightening the belt. If this movement does not happen replace the cable.

Sounds like your choke cable needs adjustment. Follow the choke cable to where it mounts on the carb.

Move the choke lever at the same time watching where it mounts to the carb. there is usually a clamp holding the cable in place, you may need to loosen the clamp and slide the cable back to make the choke fully close

The choke cable needs adjusting. There is a strap holding the sleeve on the carb. loosen it and adjust the choke position, then tighten it up again.

When were the air filter and fuel filter last replaced? Those are the two suspects to cause your problem and unless the mower is pretty new, or they were replace in the last year or two, start with those.

Not familiar with this model, but a thought, check for a kill switch.

your govenor linkage is on wrong remove the link and install it the proper way...good l uck

the should be a cable near the throttle on the dash by the steering wheel. if not look at the carb there should be a sliding choke on the front of the carb..good luck

Try replacing the fuel filter and air filter.
