Question about Apple iPod classic MP3 Player
Tried everything numerous times
The red x means that the hard drive is broken.
The hard drive can be fixed by resetting it by holding the menu and center button, and as soon as you see the apple logo appear on the screen hit it on the side on padded carpet or couch. make sure you hit it on its left side (left in reference to picture above) if it does not work the first time try again except a little harder.
(you are doing this because the arm inside the hard drive that reads the information from the hard drive is stuck in the middle of the drive, and and hitting it on its left side will get it unstuck)
The only thing that you could break normally when you hit the ipod on its side would be the hard drive and because that is not working you have nothing to loose.

Solution #1 worked for us....hit ipod on floor multiple times on both left and right side. Really load squeal for brief second then some weird noises for a few seconds. After that the ipod looked like it normally would, like nothing ever happened!
Best of Luck!
