I had same problem on a different Clarion model.
it was down to brown (can be brown with orange stripe) telephone mute wire in grey plug causing a connection to ground. If you dont have a phone, Simple answer is remove the brown wire pin from plug, tape over it to stop any short, re-insert grey plug and it works...

This proble is usually caused by the tel mute cable getting trapped as you push the radio in to the dash, pull the radio out of the dash and see if you can see if any cables have gotten caught in the cage

Clarion rdb465d display reads TEL after install, what does it mea

Hello rhowell2,

It sounds like the head unit has a ground on the "telephone" lead.

Make sure that all unused leads are taped off or otherwise insulated against touching other leads or the vehicle frame.

Hope this helps.

I just install new Clarion BTL370 in the Clarion

A few things to check...

Make sure the receiver is set to "tel sw" or something similar in the menu. From there, you should be able to set the call to the left or right speaker. Make sure you set the headset to the same side.

Another thing to check, make a call and get connected through the headset. Now wait a few seconds and push a button on the phone to power the backlight. If it is wired correctly, you should see the "connected" timer on your phone keep time. If it appears that you are connected, the problem is most likely in the settings.

Also, if nothing else works, make sure that you have the accessory wire(should be red on the BLT370) connected to the right wires. All the other wires will power it on even if this wire is not connected correctly.

Foot pedal won't work with hands free microphone

The 3750 won't let you control the telephone record jack. The only way you can get a mic to work using the Tel Rec jack is by pressing and holding the 'Tel Rec' button for about 1 second. But this isn't compatible with the hands-free operation.

If you're looking to do hands-free recording, it uses the built-in conference mic. Press and hold the 'Conf Rec' button for about a second and it should start recording. This built-in mic is located on the right-hand side of the machine near the front by the headset jack.

If you want to control the machine via a foot control while in Conference Record mode, you'll have to change the 'Foot Control Dictate' setting in the menu. Here's how:

1) Press and hold the 'Erase' & 'Search' buttons for about 5 seconds until the menu appears.

2) Scroll through the options until you get to 'Foot Control Dictate' and set this to 'Yes'.

3) Press 'Stop' to exit the menu.

4) Press the 'Conf Rec' button to enter record mode.

Now you should be able to control the start/stop of the record function via the foot control.

Hope this helps...
