I have a Tran XE80 furnace with a Goodman Compressor. Sometimes the compressor starts, but only runs for a few minutes and shuts down. I looked at the control board and it has no lights at all?

SOURCE: DH30 Dehumidifier Compressor Does not Operate

I just picked one up at a tag sale, seller said it worked sometimes. Seems to have the same problem as yours. I took the time to tweak all of the connections and then re-soldered the control board with no luck. I finally disconnected the humidity control and it worked fine. By disconnecting the humidity control the unit defaults to it's highest setting and you have to unplug the unit to turn it off. Conclusion so far is that the humidity control rheostat is bad.
Note: Now while running the fan runs continuously and the compressor cycles on and off every 10 to 15 minutes. This may to be normal since the unit appears to be doing its job and I'm not sure how it is supposed to run since a purchased it broken.

SOURCE: Compressor starts and doesn't stop

Relay for the compressor may be stuck ( Contacts welded) both the fan and the compressor should operate at the same time. Have the relay(s) checked and possibly replaced.

Goodman heatpump fan runs, condenser wont start

Either the condenser fan has bad bearings, or it has a defective fan capacitor.
Turn off the breaker to the outside unit.
Spin the fan blade by hand.
If the fan blade spins easily and will spin a few revolutions with no problem the fan bearings are good.
If not, replace the fan motor due to bad bearings.
I am pretty sure you fan motor is bad because with a bad capacitor the fan motor will not get up to speed and may just sit and overheat.
I'm leaning toward a bad fan motor.

The compressor on my goodman unit runs a few hours and shuts off. The condensing fan continues to run and once in a while you will hear a buzz but compressor won't start. If you then turn up stat and wait,...

there could be excessive heat developing causing internal overload protectors to open when it has reached that temperature. This could be due to bearing or winding problems with the compressor. Another possibility is the capacitor if it is not operating correctly can cause problems with the heat or high amp draw at start up.Measure the amps on the compressor for about thirty minutes. If the amps keep rising the compressor is the problem. Check the capacitor. If it is balloned out at the top replace it, check to see the resistenance reading rises and falls when the probes are connected. Any thing different replace scott Buehler
