Fluctuation in sound output on Cambridge Soundworks 5.1 speakers

I have a regular problem with my Cambridge Soundworks speakers, in that the volume suddenly fluctuates from normal volume to loud and then back down again on an intermittent basis. Is there any solution to this?

Hi Paulus
A lot brand of speakers, like Sound Blasters, Logitech, Cambridge, has this (strange) kind of volume problem, sometimes, is the resistor, in the volume control, sometimes in the modulator for the board on the sound speakers, Subwofer.
I use a general tip is let the volume in one setting and don't move in the intermediate low volume say....9 .
from other thing, be change the speakers.

I have upgraded to Windows 7 and also a new Gigabyte GA-H61M-D2-B3 Motherboard. 4GB DDR Ram I have plugged my Cambridge Soundworks SW320 in but I only get some sound, eg all music and back ground sound is...

Gigabyte GA-H61M-D2-B3 Motherboard supports 2/4/5.1/7.1-channel HD audio, whereas Cambridge Soundworks SW320 is 2.1 (only). Hence, the PC should be configured to provide 2.1 Channel output. The audio of your system may be configured to 2.1. So, please check the Realtec Audio sound manager/ configuration from the control panel or from tray (near clock) and set it to 2.1 (2 Channel Stereo Output).
Moreover, audio on your PC may be running on default HD Audio Drivers. So, you may also download/ install the latest drivers for Gigabyte GA-H61M-D2-B3 Motherboard.
(Refer to download section at the bottom of the page). After installing audio drivers, you would be able to configure the audio.

Hope it helps! Good Luck! Thanks for using Fixya!

Had my computer rebuilt and now my cambridge soundworks GCS300 speakers will not work....what do i do

Generally speakers will not need a driver, its more likely your soundcard needs the driver - have you tried anything else rather than the speakers to get sound? If you cant get any sound at all then its your soundcard so you will need the driver for it - otherwise try the link below, its the only thing that comes remotely close to a driver for these speakers -

thx, hope this helps :)

To make these your default speakers, you will need to do the following 1. Find the volume control icon on the bottom right portion of your screen 2. Right click the icon 3. Select change default 4. Cycle through the options until you see the logitech speakers as an option 5. Select this new option 6. If you still do not see the logitech speakers then you need to reinstall them with the provided software. If you do not have software, download it for free from

Well, easy task, just put a music CD, on system and if you got an headphones, put in the green connector on your sound card, pop up the PC volume, and see if you heard sound, if you do, heard sound then the problem is your speakers. if don't is your sound card.
good luck

You defenetely need to RMS your device to support on the place you buy, or company that made the decoder.
it is inside motherboard problem, and it is not so easy to pin point the problem here. but, yes, you has may be a bad modulator inside for the right signal to keep in right volume.
get it to repair shop.

Speakers working, then suddenly not...

It's possible they've died, have you checked that your sound card and drivers are working by using another set of speakers or headphones.
