Brightness on ViewSonic e70

I have turned the brightness up on my ViewSonic e70 all the way up, but it is still completely dim. I have it attached to a Windows XP desktop. I checked to see if it was the monitor vs. machine by hooking it up to my Windows Vista Acer laptop... the brightness, etc was fine then so it seems to be some setting on the desktop machine. I just don't know what or where to go to troubleshoot and fix it.
HELP!
