Question about Fuji FinePix E510 Digital Camera

1 Answer

I have exactly the same problem with the same camera

It was fine for a couple of years, this has only just started and I can't point to any installation or event that may have provoked this behavior.

I've tried reinstalling the drivers, rebooting the computer, turning the camera on first, then last but no success.

The MS camera wizard allows me to copy the pics so I know the cable is good but I can't Cut or Delete them from the camera.

I'd like to hear from anyone who knows how to fix this.

Thanks - rev

I just solved it. You have to change the USB mode inside the camera settings. Enter the menu and pedal around until you find 'USB Mode' - then change it to the other setting, there are only two positions.

I am using this camera from last 3 years. It was working fine. Suddenly, a problem occurred. Now whenever I select the Auto mode, it is set to video option instead of still image. I have formatted...

I'm have the exact same problem. Purchased the camera 3.5 years ago. Recently needed to shoot a video, when finished I set the camera back to Auto and it stayed in video. Portrait mode shows manual, all other modes work as assigned. I've noticed at least TWO other posters having the same problem within the last couple of months. It's as though this camera (mfg. 2007) has a Trojan program from the factory to make us buy newer models.

Other than resetting, is there a way to flush and reload the firmware?

Sony DSC-P73 auto power off in picture mode

Hello!

You may try using any another compatible Battery pack in the Camera to ensure if the issue is not causing due to the Battery. Actually, when the Camera is switched to the "Picture or Camera" mode then the power consumption increases spontaneously. So, if the Batter is not holding sufficient charge to cater the power need of the Camera in the Camera mode then it'll automatically turn off. However, if the issue persists with spare Battery also then you may try resetting the Camera to the original factory settings by pressing and holding the Reset button for 30 seconds. Otherwise, it's required to get the Camera to resolve the hardware issues.

Aoutofocus stopped working

Start off with the simple things, does it work with another lens, is the AF/M switch in the correct postion for autofocus (AF), are the batteries good.

If all of the above are in order it maybe either the DC/DC converter on the bottom of the camera, this supplies power to various parts of the circuit. or it could be the motor drive transistors, these are located under the front cover and are located where you finger tips rest on the right hand side as you hold the camera.

Both these items are not really user changeable and I know the DC/DC units have not been available new for many years now.

I suggest you have a look for a friendly camera repair shop to pin point the exact cause.

You will have to keep in mind the age of the camera 23 years old parts are a big issue
