Question about Lexicon Lambda Usb Desktop Recording Interface Sound Card

Open Question

Cannot play winamp and guitar rig 3 at the same time

The same problem as mentioned .
when i start winamp and guitar rig is still running it will not start until i close guitar rig.
but i lke to play along.
the sound card's a asio driver is set to work for all installed prgrams.
I tried to stream both through sonar pe 6, but though guitar rig is also installed as a plug in and works there i see no option to play winamp there in real time.
Does anybody maybe have a solution for this?

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

Go to your devices tab click on the ASIO driver Lambda and when you get that message click reset and try again it should work.

SOURCE: The Asio Driver OmegaAsio could not be started!

I get this too. I don't know how to stop it happening in the first place, but if you find you can't record after it happens, this is what sorts it for me:

Go to 'Devices' and then 'Device Set-up'. Make sure you're in the 'VST Audio System' part of the menu. Click on 'Set to Defaults', then 'Apply' and 'OK'.

I have to say, though, I'm finding the Omega a total pain because of all these random issues!

I cant hear the music from gom player

In an earlier post I mentioned I was switching my PC music players from Winamp to GOM player. Well, GOM player is not far enough along in its development for me to use it on a daily basis.

I have 3 issues with GOM player today: a bug in mp3 decoding, and a bug in sound-driver-playing, and buffering.

Some of my music (actually, a large portion of it) plays fine in Winamp, but flickers badly in GOM player. What I mean is, a little chunk of audio is skipped (like 1/10th of a second's worth), so the song "speeds up" by 1/10th of a second, which sounds horrible to the ear; it messes up the beat of the music, especially if you're trying to sing to it or follow it in your mind while listening to it.

I know there's a ton of different mp3 encoders that can generate mp3 files in a wide variety of ways, including CBR versus VBR differences; Winamp just seems to handle them all perfectly, today.

There's some bug in how GOM player talks to my sound driver, in a way I've never seen before. Let's say I load up an m3u file (which is a list of many mp3 songs to play, in the order to play them). GOM player plays the first song. Then, it switches to the second song, and begins "playing" it - except no sound is coming out of my speakers! I can see the little thumb/bar moving horizontally, showing that the music is "playing" from GOM's point of view, but I can't hear a thing.

If I grab the little thumb and drag it ANYWHERE (including right to the spot it was just at), the sound immediately resumes playing through the speakers! So, I have to baby-sit every song - grabbing the thumb and dragging it back to the beginning OF EVERY SONG, to get that next song to play. Frustrating.

The last issue is that GOM player isn't buffering up enough decoded music ahead of the play-point. I know this because when I start launching apps and opening windows, even IE windows, the music cuts out for fractions of a second, then resumes. The music gets choppy like that, over and over, until the CPU is back to "idle", then the music plays continuously again. Winamp never did that. I assume it's a buffering issue; perhaps Winamp is multithreaded, with one thread doing playback, and another doing decoding; the decoder must run fast enough to be ahead of the playback by a wide margin, for times when CPU becomes scarce. Then the playback can read its data from the buffered-up audio, play it, and not hiccup.

Really intelligent software will even do internal "low-water-mark" measurements to see how well the buffer size is working; if it ever runs out of buffer entirely between decoding and playback, it tweaks an internal setting so it remembers to keep a larger buffer next time! That way it can prevent hiccups in the future by learning about how this particular machine works.

Yes, I'm running this on a machine with not quite enough memory (512MB Windows XP; it's the max this poor box can have). But if Winamp can do it, I would like to think GOM player can, with the proper programming.

So, I guess I don't have a good music player after all.

Yes I've tried VLC media player, which is awesome for movies, but has a sucky user interface in my opinion. You can't display a playlist of upcoming songs you've queued up, such as when you open a m3u file which VLC player does understand just fine.

I'm going to look around some more.

Get a power smoother on your equipment ... Trust me on that, It drove me nuts for a while until I found out that the boiler heater in my house was passing static through the power into my pc and making lovely little pops in my recordings.

Question, are they wireless guitars or are they corded? If they are wireless, try switching the wireless cards on the playstation where the cord slot is. But use the same guitar with the different card. Thats how I was able to solve my same problem.

Just get clean tone through NI Rig Kontrol 2

you need an asio driver for your rig kontrol.. you are probably set to use DirectX drivers, which will give you latency of 50ms and waaaayy beyond... By contrast, ASIO drivers will give you sub-10ms latency... Most people can play at around 7ms, but im picky, and no more than 5ms will do for me..

Go download the drivers from NI site, and try those.. if that doesnt work, there is ASIO4ALL... google and read.,. this will help ya

keep playin

RECORDING GUITAR USING AUDIOPHILE FIREWIRE AND GUITAR RIG 3

I've ran the audio in on my sound card to my mixer and had the guitar on the mic in.  I've also ran the line in to a small cracker amp.  Keep it turned down. If I would directly connect it use an adaptor.  I haven't tried using a 1/4 to 1/8 adapter and directly connected to it as I wanted to control the tone. I don't see why it wouldn't work.  Keep everything muted and turned all the way down when you first connect it.  Then start raising volumes slowly  I will try and report back As far as spdif you're just recording analog to digital conversion.  I get more realisitc sound just keeping it analog til it hits my line in.  Have a quality sound card.  Not some walmart special.  I use Adobe Audition 1.5 to multichannel record.

Double click on your speaker icon in the task bar next to the time (Or go to audio in control panel and find advanced settings)

Look for microphone and line in and mute them ...

Then click options, Goto advanced and choose recording and click ok ... Look for the input your using and turn that up as much as you need.

Then check guitar rig ... All should be fine now
