Question about Whirlpool LTE5243D Top Load Stacked Washer/Dryer
I had a service guy come to look at my so noisy machine. He said I need a new shock absorber. After he left I did a load of wash and noticed there was no loud noise . When the wash was done the clothes were dripping wet, but the tub was empty of water. After some investigating I realized that the spin cycle did not work. The spin cycle worked fine before the service man came. Could he have done something to have caused this or is it just a coincidence that there is now a new problem?
Yes, although I would hate to think he meant to. After looking at the diagram of your machine, I can only think of one thing he might have done. Did he say anything about needing a coupler? This connects the motor to the transmission. If he left this off, it would fill and pump out but not agitate or spin you clothes. Here is how to find out. Set machine to wash a load. Don't put any clothes in. Watch the machine. After it fills. It should start to agitate. Listen to see if you here the water is moving around. Then advance the machine or just let it run until it goes into spin. After it starts spinning open the lid. If the tub is spinning you should see it stopping when you look real fast. If it is not sloshing in wash cycle or spinning in spin cycle, you have not got a coupler on it or it broke after he put it back together. The only reason he would have had to remove it is if you needed one and after he removed it he found he didn't have one to replace it with or he just forgot. The coupler is a real common part that goes bad. I myself replace them on most every machine that has them when I open one. I only do this if the customer is there so that I can show them the ware on it so that they will not think I'm just replacing parts to run the bill up. If you would, please let me know what you find out. Thanks
