Question about Whirlpool LTE5243D Top Load Stacked Washer/Dryer

My thintwin spincycle is not working

I had a service guy come to look at my so noisy machine. He said I need a new shock absorber. After he left I did a load of wash and noticed there was no loud noise . When the wash was done the clothes were dripping wet, but the tub was empty of water. After some investigating I realized that the spin cycle did not work. The spin cycle worked fine before the service man came. Could he have done something to have caused this or is it just a coincidence that there is now a new problem?

Yes, although I would hate to think he meant to. After looking at the diagram of your machine, I can only think of one thing he might have done. Did he say anything about needing a coupler? This connects the motor to the transmission. If he left this off, it would fill and pump out but not agitate or spin you clothes. Here is how to find out. Set machine to wash a load. Don't put any clothes in. Watch the machine. After it fills. It should start to agitate. Listen to see if you here the water is moving around. Then advance the machine or just let it run until it goes into spin. After it starts spinning open the lid. If the tub is spinning you should see it stopping when you look real fast. If it is not sloshing in wash cycle or spinning in spin cycle, you have not got a coupler on it or it broke after he put it back together. The only reason he would have had to remove it is if you needed one and after he removed it he found he didn't have one to replace it with or he just forgot. The coupler is a real common part that goes bad. I myself replace them on most every machine that has them when I open one. I only do this if the customer is there so that I can show them the ware on it so that they will not think I'm just replacing parts to run the bill up. If you would, please let me know what you find out. Thanks

After 23 years of good service the drum has fallen off at one side. Is it worth fixing or buy a new one?

All front-load washing machines have shock absorbers that are used to dampen the tub movement in the spin cycle. The shock absorbers or struts are attached to the base frame and to the outer tub and you will need to remove the front panel or the rear panel to access them. When shock absorbers weaken or become damaged, the machine will often make a loud banging sound during the spin cycle and if the symptom is not corrected, can lead to damage of other components. Inspect the shocks for signs of broken attachments, leaked fluids or a weakened dampening action and replace both shocks if worn. Remove power from the appliance before attempting this repair.

Pulsar 150 DTSi rear shock absorber gas pressure is low. How to fill the gas into shock absorber and how much pressure of gas to be fill into it?........ and normal AIR can fill into shock absorber...

The new Pulsar 150 has RSA with Coil Springs and Suspension Fluid. If the Springs are fine, then get the shocks filled with equal amounts of Fluid at major Service Centers (Few workshops have it).
Else, if the Springs are weak, they can be adjusted by Local Shock Absorber Repairers (Dealers do not suggest it and do not have any mecanism to do it).
If neither of the above works, you have to finally change to a new Set of Rear Shock Absorbers...

My 1998 falcon has a noise coming from left front wheel area when it hits rough patch can find what it is any ideas thank you John

could be shock absorber on the way out, check shock absorber for any oil leak down the side, also when parked press down on front left wing and see if car comes back up and stops or comes up and down a few times until is stops, if the latter this means you need a new shock absorber fitting.

I hope this was useful

Shock Absorbers too noisy

If by noisy you mean a hard blunt noise while going over a bump or uneven road, it means the shocks are shoot and need to be replaced, there is no fix for that but replacement.
Good Luck!! A HELPFUL - 4 THUMBS - rating for this solution would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for using FixYa.

Check the Vibration damper rods to be sure that...
1. They are there and mount is solid.
2. If they are broken in 1/2.
3. The plastic knuckle mounts are not missing/broken.
4. There is oil in the shock absorber/spring section of the rods.

Also - there are suspension springs on the bottom of the tub that could be broken and/or missing.

Replace/repair as necessary.

Washer noisy while spinning

You probably have a balance problem. You will have to get a service tech to replace the shock absorber/stabilizers (there are 3) in the unit.

Machine out of balance. tub pulled off the rubber seal between the tub and the front panel. looks like one of the "shocks" under the tub is all the way compressed. the one on the right looks to still be...

you see the problem right there, id replace the shock absorbers, and change both for the other has been taken on extra stress levels, unable to look up part number for you with incomplete model number, but def a job you can do yourself
