Is your internet connection working properly?

The network connection to the internet may have been lost with the restore and needs to be setup again. Contact your local ISP (Internet Service Provider) and have them assist with the details to re-establish your internet connection.

Format acer n214

Format? Format is for a hard drive, so what is it that you want to do? Are you trying to Format your hard drive so nothing is on it. Formatting a drive wipes out everything, the drive is completely empty until you put something on it.

Maybe you are talking about doing a System Restore which will set you computer back to a particular date and time before you started having problems. System Restore does not delete your data, documents, music, pictures, videos or programs (unless the program was install after the restore point date and time you selected). To get to System Restore Click Start/Programs/Accessories/System Tools/System Restore and select a restore point (date and time before you started having problems).

Maybe you are talking about System Recovery. System Recovery sets your system back to when you first purchased it from the store. It deletes everything. All your data, documents, music, pictures, videos and any program you installed after you purchased it will be gone. Normally to get to System Recovery you will have to hit one of the F1 thru F12 keys repeatedly when you press the power button. Your manual will tell you the exact key to hit. Sometimes the Recovery will be listed on the program list. Click Start/Programs/ and look for System Recovery, it might be inside of one of the Acer Folders in the program list. Hopefully there is a Recovery Partition on your hard drive called Recovery. Click Start/My Computer and look to see if you see a Recovery drive listed. Sometimes the drive is hidden so you can't see it. If the drive is not present you will need a set of Recovery Disks you created or the manufacturer gave you.

Maybe you are talking about Reinstalling Windows. If you do a Clean or Complete Install it will format the drive and delete everything before installing windows. There are ways to do a Repair Install that will save all your data, documents, music, pictures, videos and programs. You will need an Operating System Disk to perform a windows installation. It has to be the exact operating system as that which is on your Certificate of Authentication (COA) sticker on the computer somewhere. If it says Windows XP Professional you cannot use a Windows XP Home disk to do the install and vice versa.

Cant read the xd card

Try the card needs a data recovery (using special recovery software) and then a reformat. That may get most of your pictures back, but there will most likely be some (can't say how many or why) that will be corrupt and not usable. If the corrution is really bad no pictures will be available. No way to know except by attemoting a data recovery.

Acer One 10" XP ... all in French

I'm not a computer expert but the aspire one has a recovery program loaded onto it already. If you click on the start button then move your mouse over to were the programs button if you click on the second program option down (the one underneath the "accessories") then click on that program it should be something called empowering techonology (might look like "autorisation de la technologie" - courtesy of babelfish). When the program opens up (in my aspire one its a blue window) if you click the top option (just scroll your mouse over it) that is "restore system to factory default". I believe you will probably have to do the whole select language etc over again and hopefully fix your laptop. Good luck.

Doing siytem restore, and have no operating system.Vista home premium model no s 3460 sofware build 82APv3PrA1.Im under warranty what can i do?.In the start of system restore computer stopped, message reeds...

Starting the recovery from power up If Windows Vista cannot open and if the Recovery partition on the hard disk drive is functioning properly, you can perform a System Recovery by performing the following procedure:
  1. Turn off the computer.
  2. Disconnect all connected devices (such as the Personal Media Drive, USB drives, printer, and fax), remove media from drives, and remove any recently added internal hardware. Do not disconnect the monitor, keyboard, mouse, and power cord.
  3. Turn on the computer.
  4. Do one of the following actions depending on how Windows Vista was installed:
    • If Windows Vista came pre-installed on your computer, press the F11 key repeatedly when the first screen opens (the logo screen), until Recovery Manager program opens on the screen.
    • If your computer was upgraded from Windows XP to Windows Vista, press the F10 key repeatedly when the first screen opens (the logo screen) until Recovery Manager program opens on the screen.
If Recovery Manager does not open, a set of recovery discs is needed to perform a System Recovery. Follow the instructions listed in Starting the recovery from recovery discs .
  5. Click Next .
  6. On the screen that prompts for Microsoft System Restore select No , and then click Next .
  7. The Recovery Manager gives you the option of backing up your data files. Backing up your files is recommended. To back up your files select Yes , and then click Next . Follow the onscreen instructions. If you do not want to backup your files, select No , and then click Next .
  8. After the System Recovery is complete, the computer restarts and continues into Windows setup. Complete the setup screens and wait until the computer finishes the setup. Then, turn off the computer, reconnect all peripheral devices, and turn on the computer.
  9. Before using the computer, update and protect it by reinstalling any virus and security software that was installed before the System Recovery.
  10. Reinstall any software applications that were added after puchasing the computer, and replace any files that were backed up.

Acer 5050 laptop

I assume from the question that you want to restore your computer to factory default - like the day you bought it. Warning - this process will wipe out all you data unless you back it up to an external drive or DVD.

If windows is running you can start it by going to Programs, Acer Empowering Technology and run the Acer eRecovery Management. Note that on the bottom of the eRecovery Management window are 3 choices, Backup, Burn Disk and Restore. Click on Restore. Here you have the choice of selecting Restore System to Factory Default.

If windows is not working but the system boots -
Reboot the system and when the Acer logo appears, hold down the ALT key and press F10. This starts the recovery process, just follow the instructions.
