Verify IGNITER glows the easy method

continuity checks on igniters are seldom accurate. An amperage test is the best solution. Igniters are fairly cheap, just replace if it is suspect. They are a wear item that go bad frequently.

My gas dryer burner does not heat. The igniter does not glow even to permit the gas valve to turn on. Everything else works and checks out being good, such as the thermostats, igniter, flame sensor. ...

You could check the igniter by testing to see if 120 volts is at the wiring the igniter plugs into, if 120 vac at that plug the igniter is bad Also need to check THERMAL FUSE,in addation to thermostat,on electric dryers if thermal fuse is out it cuts circuit to motor, on many brand dryers if thermal fuse bad on GAS dryer it cuts circuit to igniter

The unit just stopped heating and drying the clothes. The burner on my LP Kenmore dryer won't light, otherwise everything else works just fine. I've have taken everything apart and cleaned out all...

Generally, with a gas dryer, there is an ignition device that heats to a specific temperature and this causes the gas to ignite. When this electric ignition fails to work, the gas will not ignite and there will be no heat. I had this happen and had to call a professional. It was a simple matter of installing a new ignition device and it worked perfectly for years. I hope this helps! If it is a new dryer, check to see if this part might be covered under warranty

If you are having problems with your gas dryer not heating the most common problem is that the ignitor goes bad. Even though it glows sometimes it is still not working properly.

if you dryer is gas check out this gas no heat tip....

If you have an electric dryer, you can have many different things that can go wrong causing the dryer not to heat.

Igniter won't glow

Hi,
I am assuming that everything works OK except you have no heat?
When you turn on dryer listen for gas valve to click(this may take a few seconds). If you don't have a click then the gas valve my be bad or it is not getting power.

Dryer has to be running to check for power only experienced persons should perform machine running power tests.
Let me know If I can do anything else to help.

The dryer will not heat, everything else works.

If this dryer is electric and everything are working the most probable cause should be the high temp thermostat located within the heating elements and also the overtemp sensor located close to dryer exhaust vent. If this is a gas dryer check the electric igniter located within the burner area.
