Question about Hoover SteamVac Carpet/Upholstery Deep Cleaner Vacuum

1 Answer

What type of cleaner

You should always use the recomended sol for any of your s.c In the case of the hoover you don't want to use anything that has a foaming agent to it. this will cause your recovery tank to fill up really fast and the foam might over whelm the recovery tank and in some cases get into where the motor compartment is and cause it to go bad. the laundry soap thing, never heard of it and if you do try it, try it in an not so seen area, just in case it changes the color of your carpet. basicly any of the s.c. products out there are safe for your machine, just remember not to use solvents( faboloso, clorox or pinesol just to name a few) in your machine and also no foaming solotions and i think you should be good. hope this helps.

I NEVER use more than 1/2 of the recommended amount of the cleaning solution. I read this years ago and have found it to be true. If you use the whole amount it tends to leave more residue which attracts dirt in the long run. If you have a dirty spot then pretreat it and then clean.
I often use SprayNWash to pretreat. It works great and I have it already.
I wouldn't use any oil-based cleaner such as pinesol, murphys oil soap or one of those to slean carpet.
Bleach will take the color out of most carpets except berber. Try it in an inconspicuous place IF you have berber. I have used it on a light colored plush in very small quantities.
The trick is:don't saturate your carpets, stay off them until completely dry, and vacuum after cleaning to pick up dried cleaner. You do not want to get your pad wet!
Good luck

Unable to find recomended cleaner for floor mate, what can I use

Do NOT use ammonia...it will destroy the seals. #1 NEVER leave solution in the tank...and clean everything after every use. Lowe's and/or Home Depot have Bissels cleaner for the Hoover Floormate...also check Target and Walmart's sweeper dept. If ALL fails, you may use Zep Pine Cleaner (Home Depot) in a diluted 2oz. to 1qt. water...filling ONLY the little reservoir with this dilution!!!!! Good Luck.

Need to change a belt on my Hoover Concept One Power drive

Hello,
I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure. On the Hoover Concept One Power Drive Upright vacuum there are 2 belts, a drive belt and a power drive belt, always use the Hoover genuine belts and for the best cleaning always change you vacuum belts every 4 to 6 months for the best cleaning. !st, remove the bottom plate and cut off the old belts – then you need to lift up the one side of the brushroll that has the pulley side for the longer of the 2 belts and slide it on. Replace the brushroll, B4 you go to far remember which went on 1st, the power drive belt (smaller belt) or the brushroll belt, in either case hook the belt(s) onto the pulley 1st and then use a belt puller or a screwdriver with a hook or bend on the end and stretch the belt(s) onto the motor pulley and then track the belts in a straight line – do this on both belts. Once you have done this then replace the bottom plate. Check your owner’s manual in the trouble shooting guide to see if they also have suggestions or check with your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or contact the Hoover website or the Hoover factory cust serv phone # listed below. So if you need further assistance, please feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or in the yellow pages, or contact the factory phone number or website to further assist you with your questions.

Hello,
I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure. I have a similar Hoover “SteamVac” and the vacuum does not create steam as you stated, but you do have to use the hottest water with cleaning solution and the Hoover will clean your carpet by spraying down the solution, the scrubbing brushes will loosen the dirt and the vacuum will pickup the excess water until the holding tank is full and then you have to empty it, and then start again. The word “Steam Vac” is something that the Hoover factory labeled but so far I have not seen anything that actual produces “Steam” while cleaning. Feel free to contact the Hoover factory with your complaint @ the information listed below.

Most of the older Hoover Comm’l type vacuums have a shake our bag with a slide on clamp – so you would keep the clamp & then either the bag usually is wired on @ the bottom of the fill area & would need to re-attach if the outer bag is still in good shape. If not then I suggest that you replace the bag and clamp if needed. include the brand name & model # with your request to either company. Questions? Contact the Hoover website or Hoover cust service @ the info listed below. So if you need further assistance, please feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or in the yellow pages, or contact the factory phone number or website to further assist you with your questions.

How to take the bottom off to replace the belt on a Hoover Elite U5061-900

Hello,
I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure. Some Hoover Elites have either screws or clips and the bottom plate should come off without a problems. Or if that is not the case then once you remove the screws then the top cover will come off and you can replace the belt from the top. Hoover Elite Rewind Vacuum, smells like a burning motor and is not sucking anymore! Help!!

Hello,
I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure. If the motor has a burning smell, it could be the belt but in most cases it would be the motor and that would be in need of replacement. You can try to replace it yourself but there would not a warranty for self installation. If you have an authorized vacuum cleaner dealer do the install then it would be warranted for one year. You can check with the Hoover manufacturer if you like. If you have further questions please feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area, or contact the Hoover website and or the cust serv phone # @ Hoover listed below. Hoover Steam Vac Spin Scrub Carpet Cleaner won't...
Posted by hoofbeats1 on Jul 01, 2008
My machine is a little more than a year old. I have used it about 5 times. It started leaking the third time I used it. The fourth time I took it out, the brushes would not spin (I did clean them and rinse them after use each time).
Now the engine screams and won't **** anything up. Do you have any suggestions? My last Hoover Steam Vac was great and lasted for 3 years! Hi,
I have a Hoover Dual V SteamVac F7425-900 that the brushes won't spin. The lint screen is clean & the brushes switch is in the on position.
It dispenses & sucks up the cleaning solution & water; just no brush action. Help

Hello,
I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure. The only thing that I can recommend is that you may have a bad switch, some vacs may have a broken belt or the drive mechanism inside the Hoover Dual V SteamVac F7425-900 in or by the brush assm section and is need of repair. Please check the trouble shooting section of the owner’s manual if you’re needing help and to save money. If you don’t have one then contact the Hoover factory cust serv. So, please feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or in the yellow pages, or contact the factory phone number or website to further assist you with your questions.

I buy loads of Hoovers and always same problem. When I Hoover its a dusty smell and it stays around bag not full and check filter the Hoover is ok f couple days then this happens.

Hello,
I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure. Hoover F5881-900 Vacuum. It sounds to me that if you have a clean bag and filter, it sounds like you have dust in the motor section and it needs to be cleaned and or take a good blower and blow out the dirt or you may have a clog or dirt build up in the suction line and that might be causing the dusty smell. Please feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or call the Hoover factory and ask for tech support. So if you need further assistance, please feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or in the yellow pages, or contact the factory phone number or website to further assist you with your questions.

My Hoover carpet cleaner does not **** up water.

Hello,
I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure.
Usually on the Hoover’s the have suction when you remove the recovery tank and from there you need to back track to see if there is a clog of some type or obstruction that is blocking the carpet cleaner from picking up the excess water, if you find that it is from the bottom, use and old wire coat hanger and create a hook on the end and that way you can pull out and remove any obstruction that might be in the way in order to get suction again, or the recovery tank might need a new gasket or it’s not sitting on the vacuum correctly. So if you need further assistance, please feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or in the yellow pages, or contact the factory phone number or website to further assist you with your questions.

How do I remove the cleaner hood the clear see thru plastic to clean under the hood?

Hello,
I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure. Hoover F5881-900 Vacuum. There may be 2 ways to remove the top cover. There are two screws located on the bottom and there are 2 ways that might work. The clear tube on Hoover’s sometimes will swivel and that is the way to bet the clear tube unclogged, or once you remove the 2 – 4 screws on the bottom the top should lift right off, and then you can serviced your vacuum cleaner. If you have questions you can always contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or call tech support @ the Hoover @ the factory and ask for tech support.
