SOURCE: blue screen with HDMI

Check the power supply modular cable connection that is by itself in the upper right corner.  On the one my son-in-law has the double yellow jumper wire that connects to this plug in two locations was loose (not properly inserted) in the modular connector and had worked it way out.

SOURCE: Westinghouse ltv 32w4 hdc 32.02 in. hdtv lcd tv / dvd combo

My 42" Westinghouse HDMI inputs just stopped working. I thought it was the TW Explorer 4250HDC issue so I got a new one from TW. Still said no signal from HDMI. So, I shut the TV down and pulled the power cord out of the back. I waited a few seconds and reconnected the pwr cord. The TV "re-booted" so to say and now the HDMI inputs work. I think TVTEK has the right idea that it is firmware/software related. In the mean time, you might want to give that a try.

SOURCE: Zenith Z42P3 "Invalid Format" message from upconverter DVD

Ran into the same problem with this DVD player and my LG tv. Try this:
Open the DVD tray, with the DVD tray open press the HDMI select button until the proper resolution for your tv is illuminated, put the DVD back in, close the tray and try again. Simple fix -- worked beautifully for me.

Good luck

Hitachi 2006 42HDS69 will not detect signal from dvd or xbox, how do I fix this?

Check the error codes on the digital board, which is visible through the grill in the back where the AC power entry is located. A trouble shooting guide, including the error codes, can be found in the service manual here: http://elektrotanya.com/hitachi_42hdx99_42hdt79_42hds69_chassis_dw2-u.pdf/download.html

In the case of my TV, I had to replace the main digital board. I was able to find one online for about $80 and replace it myself. Once you get the rear cover off the TV the digital board is easily accessible and took maybe 20 minutes to replace. Good luck!

Try it via another type of connection, some players need to be set to the type of connection you are using.

Trouble trying to connect my dvd player and set it up to my new 42 " L cd lost instructions!

Hi there,
You will need to determine if your DVD player is HDMI or Scart. If you connect it via a scart lead, then it should automatically turn on when you power it up, if not it will be located on your tv under the appropriate source/input label, ie AV1/AV2, or SCART.
If you are using a HDMI lead, then you will have to turn it over yourself, as HDMI does not support switching control. To do this, locate the input button on your remote (sometimes labled source) and press it until you can select the correct HDMI input using either the directional buttons, or by repeatedly pressing the input button.
Hope this helps

Dvd's play in black and white

Make sure the video connector between the DVD player and the TV is pushed all the way in. If that doesn't help, try switching video cables (if you don't have any extras, they are REALLY cheap). Then try switching DVD players (if you don't have or want to buy another, just borrow someones).

If it isn't the DVD player, it's the TV. Assuming everything else is working (regular TV is in color) you should be able to fix it by changing what video plug type you use (IE: switch from S-video to component or HDMI).

Is there someway to hook up our Hitachi 42HDS69 to our laptop

Your computer should have a DVI port to make this possible since your TV dont have a VGA port. If your computer have a DVI port then an HDMI/DVI cable is all you need. This allows you to connect you computer or laptop to you tv through the HDMI connection on your tv.

Dvd wont work.

First, is the DVD player output (Video out, audio out) connected to the TV input? Have you used the Yellow cable from  DVD video out to the TV video in? Mixing the audio and video cables will result in no signal. Have you selected the proper input with your TV remote control. Most plasmas accept a variety of input signals; you must select the right one. I deal with a number of these issues. Usually the connections are made improperly or the correct input source is not selected with the TV remote. Put a DVD in the player and press play. Be sure you have made the proper connection from DVD player video/audio out into an auxiliary or video input on the TV. These could be labeled Line 1 or Line 2.  With the DVD playing, run through the input options on your remote control. The button might be marked source, video or input. The screen should display your choices i.e. video 1, video 2, etc. When you see your DVD program, you've got the right combination.
