Question about Saeco Incanto Classic Espresso Machine

1 Answer

The brew unit is stuck and impossible to remove now, and something on the left seems to have moved out of place and prevents the container that holds spent coffee to slide in correctly.

THANK YOU so much for your helpful advice! I picked up your email just as I was ready to take it to a repair shop. Than ks for your detailed instructions, I was able to fix the problem and my machine is working again!!

Now, do you know if there is something I could do to prevent that problem from happening again? is it something we did wrong or does it just happen randomly after a while?

    Thank you again

Hi Open the door. On the left side and towards
the back of the brew group, there is a single small Phillips screw. Remove the screw.
Squeeze the handle and pull carefully, but firmly with a quick snap. The
brew group should come out with the drege drawer and drip tray. There is a piece that remains in the
machine. Slide the piece down and to the right and it will come off.
Insert the piece into the hole on the backside of the brew group with
the clip up. Tighten the screw and move brew group back into position.
If your brew group did not come out please call your service center.
To return the brew group to the centered position, you first need to
drop the funnel. To do this, look on the opposite side of the brew
group from the handle. At the top you will see an object that looks
    like a sharks
fin. If you follow this piece down you will see 2 horizontal plastic bars on
the brew group body. Push your finger between these 2 bars and the
funnel will drop. Now you can push the puck slide on the left side down
and to the center. If you look down through the funnel you should see a
piston. This should be centered in the funnel. If not just push the
slide to the right until it does. Squeeze the lever like you are removing the brew unit until it clicks and you are now
ready to reinsert the brew group in to the machine. First you must
insert the drip tray and drege drawer, then close the door and turn on the machine without having the brew group
in. You will hear the motor turn on and when it stops completely, open
the door and insert the brew group. Done

Waste unit is stuck and I can not remove it

The standard instructions are ... remove the waste container, water container & ground coffee container. On the front of the Brew Unit is a vertical black lever with a grey press button at bottom. Press this button and turn the lever clockwise. Then press the release catch that holds the brew unit as base and pull the brew unit. If Brew Unit is still stuck then its likely that the Unit State is not in the 'home position' and if this has occurred then its likely that that an error code would be showing. Regards

How do I reset the machine

You need to "fool" the machine that the waste container, the brew group and the front panel are in the correct position. You do this by inserting something thin, for example a plastic knife into each slot inside the machine. You will need three plastic knives. Make sure that the machine is on then put one in each of the slots at the same time. The machine will then begin its self test procedure and return to the starting position.

It seem to have developed difficulty making coffee from ground beans. Comes out very slowly and machine gets hot

Hi
If you make a pre-ground shot but don't put any coffee in it, and it does the same thing you have a blockage in the brew head.
If it run normally, your grind is to fine. Push the grinder lever to a larger number. It takes 3 times to change to the new grind.
If it still dribbles, remove the brew unit (behind the door)
Holding the handle, the top left side is the brew head. There is an outlet pipe that exits the backside towards the machine (looks like an "L" pipe). 2screws hold it to the top. Remove the 2 screws while holding the manifold ("L" pipe assembly). Once they are removed, lift the l assembly off (becareful, there is an O-ring, spring and inside a crystal ball (don't loose it or your out of luck). Turn the brew unit upside down while holding the brew head in your other hand and the crystal ball should fall out. If it doesn't come out put a towel down and tap the brew unit on the towel. This should force it out.
Now remove the brew screen, by holding the screen with your finger and twisting the thumbscrew (remember thumbscrew, DON'T use the key to install the screen, use your fingers.....
Once the screen is out look at where the screen was. There are 2 holes. 1 big one in the center and a small one to the side.
With the brew unit upside down over the towel insert a paperclip into the small hole and force anything out the other side. I have gotten worms almost a 1" long from this passage. The paper clip has to go from this side to prevent damage to the seat on the other side.
Clean then reassemble. Brew unit on towel right side up. Drop the crystal ball in first. Then the spring small end first on the crystal ball.
Now the O-ring over the spring, then place the manifold on top of that with the pipe towards the machine. Insert your screws (I turn them backwards a little with a little downward pressure until they feel like they drop into the threads. They should turn down easily, if not back them up a little more ( we are trying to find the old threads) and tighten. Install screen, and tighten with your fingers. The screen just needs to be flush with the bottom of the brew head.
Run another pre-ground without the coffee and rinse it out. Do this once in a while to prevent this.

It seems a pump problem when it is used it grinds the coffe but not much comes out it makes a strain noise and it also leaks in the tray

Hi
That sounds like a restriction in the brew head. Here are some instructions for cleaning.
Remove the brew unit. Holding the handle, on the top left side is the brew head, there is an outlet pipe that exits the front side towards the door (looks like a long "L" pipe). 2 screws hold it to the top. Remove the 2 screws while holding the manifold ("L" pipe assembly). Once they are removed, lift the l assembly off (be careful, there is an O-ring, spring and at the end a black rubber disk or crystal ball). Do this over a towel to prevent loosing small pieces, mainly the crystal ball.
Now remove the brew screen, by holding the screen with your finger and twisting the thumbscrew (remember, thumbscrew), DON'T use the key to install the screen, use your fingers.
Once the screen is out, look at where the screen was. There are 2 holes. A big one in the center and a small one to the side.
With the brew unit upside down over the towel, insert a paperclip into the small hole and force anything out the other side. I have gotten worms almost a 1" long from this passage. The paper clip has to go from this side to prevent damage to the seat on the other side.

They should turn down easily, if not back them up a little more ( we are trying to find the old threads) and tighten. Install screen, and tighten with your fingers. The screen just needs to be flush with the bottom of the brew head. That should do it.

The machine struggles to move grounds through after brewing. The tray seems to be locked in.

Your brew unit is probably dirty and needs cleaning. However, it won`t always help just running the cleaning program. Try to clean out all the used ground that is stuck inside the brew unit; use your fingers or a toothbrush maybe. Then run the cleaning program. It may be smart to run the program once or twice after this too, but you don`t have to use the tablet everytime.

It is the grounds blade that holds the used ground container so you can`t get it out. This means that the brew unit stops in a wrong position, and don`t get back to grinding position before timeout. If you shut down the machine for a few hours, it usually moves back during startup. But of course; this indicates that you need to clean up inside...

Saeco odea go. the brew group is stuck, i cant get it out

Turn off the machine - open the service door and see if u can tilt out the tall dregs container and remove it and the drawer. You need to get it past the coffee par rejector flap on the left of the brew group. It sticks out half way into the left hand side space.
Close the door and put in only the tall dregs container. It has a metal bit on the back the releases a magnetic reed switch inside the machine.
Turn the machine on and you should hear the drive rotor moving. As you move the dregs container back and forth, the drive motor should turn. The idea to is fool the machine into getting the water inlet point in the back of the brew group to clear the boiler pin in the back of the machine so the brew group can be removed.

Brew cup stuck unable to get out

Hi,

If you open the door and take a flashlight, light in the front/middle of the brewing unit. You will see a little screw, take a screwdriver and loosen it, bend little on the little plastic above where the screw was and pull out the brewing unit.
When you have the brewing unit out then you need to reset the machine and brewing unit.

To reset the machine you have to turn off your machine, open the door.
Look in the down left corner, you will see a hole, look in the middle of the machin you see another hole and in the upper right corner.
put a screwdriver or similarly in the left corner and in the middle of the machine, turn on the machine and put another screwdriver in the upper right corner. hold it in place to the machine not get any noise more.

To reset the brewing unit, first put the plastic back again (that one you loosen with the screw first).
If you look back on the backsida of the brewing unit, in the middle you will see a plastic that looks lika a handle, force it down and you will see all the other parts will move around little. Turn it to you can see the little mark on the front goes to the N mark.

Best regards
/Mirran

Brewing system jammed - Delonghi Magnifical 3200

Ran into this same problem this week - brew /infuser unit is stuck at the bottom of the machine and it doesn't seem to want to move. Cannont replace the drip tray/grounds catching container. After speaking with Sam a wonderful customer service rep at DeLonghi (866-528-8323) I learned the following that saved me from having to send the machine in for repair which could take 2-3 weeks.
  1. Make sure that the machine is unplugged before attempting this repair process.
  2. Open the front door of the machine so that you can see the brew unit.
  3. Take the grounds catching container only (without the drip tray) and put it into position where it would normally be seated.
  4. Carefully try closing the front door.
  5. If the door will not close with the container in position, carefully reach under the door and apply gentle pressure to lift up on the container so that the door can then close.
  6. Plug your brewing machine in. It should power on and then make an internal adjustment which will raise the brew/infuser unit up enough to then be able to once again replace the drip tray and grounds container back into position.
  7. If it does not raise high enough, try unplugging the machine again, wait about 5 seconds and then repeat the same process just described.
  8. Once you are able to replace the tray and container, power the machine on.
  9. Have a cup ready to place under the dispenser as it will release water and coffee as it preps itself for operation again.
Hope this helps those of you who are experiencing this same scenario.
