Great! As long as you know what shank it takes, you can probably buy anywhere.

SOURCE: ruffler for viking 1050

The available ruffler is a generic part. But, it is made for most Low Shank machines. ANd no, you can not change the shank from high to low. Doing that or attempting to do that will not allow the needle to go all the way down as it would set for a high shank.

SOURCE: Does this machine have a low shank --- or high

High Shank Machines are all the Janome Embroidery models MC 8000, MC 9000, 10000, 10001, 11000, 200E, 300E, 350E....etc
If yours is not an embroidery machine, it has a LOW SHANK .....the higher shank allows for easier access for the embroidery hoop

SOURCE: What type shank does this machine have? Low or

I looked up your manual and it looks like a low shank to me, I think that you can use any low shank walking foot. I bought one on ebay and I have bought another one from Amazon, both work about the same. You can also call Singer at 1-800-4singer and buy one from them.

I have a more 1787180 Kenmore model and want a freemotion foot

The Kenmore 158.1787180 uses a low shank sewing machine foot. See some of the parts here: https://www.sewingpartsonline.com/kenmore-158-1787180-sewing-machine-parts.aspx?index=1 . As long as you get the correct shank height, most presser feet are universal. You can also get the snap-on feet and an appropriate shank to snap-on foot universal adapter. (Some button-hole feet need to plug into the sewing machine, for example.)

It can be hard to measure the shank on presser feet. You need the distance from the bottom of the foot to the bottom of the screw opening. See https://www.anniescatalog.com/pages/which_foot.html . I've found calipers are better then most tape measures for this. (If you measure to the absolute center of the screw, then you add 1/4".)

I hope this helps.

Is bernina 930 a low shank or high shank machine

Bernina has feet that are specific to their machines only. They have old and new style feet depending when the machine was made. You cannot put generic low, high, slant or snap on feet on a Bernina sewing machine.

I have a Kenmore model 158.19411 and I want a walking foot for this model. Is this model a high shank or low shank?

The Kenmore 158.19411 uses super high shank presser feet. Sears Parts Direct has the zipper foot still available for the 158.19411. http://www.searspartsdirect.com/kenmore-sewing-machine-parts/6759/0020/158/model-15819411/0582/1220000.html . Other compatible feet are available here: http://www.sewingpartsonline.com/kenmore-158-18023-sewing-machine-parts.aspx . This site also has an adapter for connecting Kenmore-compatible low shank presser feet to the Kenmore 158.19411 .

I hope this helps.

I bought a walking foot /quilting set attatchment for my older Kenmore sewing machine model 158.17821. It says on the box that it fits vertical machines. should i return it for the set made for horizontal...

I think it depends on your shank and everything I see on your model says low shank not high. I would double check that, a vertical is one that the bobbin does not just drop in, you open the front & take out the case and put your bobbin in and a horizontal is the one that you just open the the plastic slide on top of your machine and put it in. Take your manual in with you to Sears and let them help you get the right one.

My Necchi 681c has snap on feet, can other makes used with it

Yes, probably. You'll need to unscrew the little gizmo that holds the snap on feet, then you can use that same screw and hole in the shank to screw on other types of feet. The most important thing is to know whether you have a low shank, high shank, or slanted shank machine, because feet of one type can't be used on other types (low shank feet can't be used on high shank or slanted shank machines, for example).
