What are the walls made of? Some details there would better help us t advise you on what to do. Also, this being a window unit, why not just mount it in the window?

Sorry if I posted a solution. i meant to post as a clarification. After doing some research, Plank homes are made of many different materials. This being said, knowing the composition of the exterior wall is a must. And I was unaware of the side opening windows let me apologize for that also. But like I said, if you can give me idea of what materials we are working with, maybe I can offer a solution to your problem.

First, insulation is put in on exterior walls with specific R ratings, drywall is just screwed to studs then spackled.in bathrooms it's a little different. There's different options for material backboard that are waterproof. Some are fiberglass then are finished in resin sealant

If you have enough room behind the stud wall install 1" rigid foam tape seams and then use the thickest possible roxsul insulation to fill the studs. Or axe the foam and install 6mil plastic on warm side of the wall after insulating tape all seams when done.

What size ton a/c unit outside would be used on a 1500 s.q.foot ranch home.

Try to get 15 BTU's per square foot living space. 22,500 Btu, or go a little higher at 24,000 or 2 ton.

Whats the cooling capacity

1 ton of cooling equals 12,000 BTU
2 ton of cooling equals 24,000 BTU
3 ton of cooling equals 36,000 BTU
1000 sq ft home needs about 30,000 BTU of cooling..... if you live in Kansas USA.
This is basic cooling. Hope this helps.

The vent pipe CAN NOT touch the wall stud. You can cut back the fiberglass insulation, but it must be a minimum of 6" away from the vent pipe on all sides.

We built an outdoor room and the dryer vent is now "indoors".

you'll have to go to lowes or home depot and buy the rigid vent pipe not the flex type. Figure up the elbows and straight pcs. Usually vent pipe is 4,6,8 So make sure you get the correct size. Now as far as going through an existing interior since the vent pipe will be larger than the wall studs you want be able to go through the walls unless you have 6in. stud walls and the vent pipe for a dryer is usually 4in. I think. If you do have 6in interior walls you can run through them but make sure it's interior walls instead of outside wall interior walls usually dont have insulation. If you can't go through the walls your next option is simply through the each floor and out the roof or out the wall. Build a square chaise around the vent with 2x4 lumber, drywall and finish.Be careful if you go through the walls you may have to reroute wiring and water pipes.
