-Run regedit (Start menu, run, etc.) and go to this key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\Word\Addins -Export all the addins to a reg file (for backup) -Then delete all of them in the registry (or one at a time if you want to know which addin is causing the problem, -Now try opening a .docx or .doc file in windows explorer and find that document loads properly with out any error messages! -now exit MS Word and open the reg file(s) you exported and import them back -try opening a .docx file again and the problem is fixed. hope this works for you
I'm not sure why you'd have to upload a word document without the file extension, but you can do it by following these instructions:
Open Windows Explorer Browse to the folder that has your document in it Go to the Tools Menu (if there's none, press the ALT button) Choose Folder Options Select the 'View' tab Make sure that the tickbox for 'Hide extensions for known file types' is NOT ticked Click Ok until you are back to the folder with your document in it.
It should now have a name like Document.doc or Document.docx
Click on the file once, then once it is highlighted click again, and you can delete the .doc or .docx part.
Press enter when you are happy with the filename. Windows will give you a warning message saying it's not a good idea, but you can click ok past this.
If you are trying to upload a file WITH a file extension, follow the same instructions above, and instead of deleting the .doc or .docx, simply add it to the end of the filename.
Docx file is the default file format for MS word 2007 and 2010. If you have those application then you can open it easily. If you have the 2003 and below version, you will need to download the Office 2007 compatibility pack and install it to your PC then you can open the docx file
sounds like you need open office www.openoffice.org. it opens all microsofts docs and it's free. if you're going to use this to create documents then make sure you save them as microsoft documents. you can save as many different formats so this is a very versatile office suite.
Writing a document and saving - the document will be saved as .DOCX. DOCX is the 2007 version. Saving as 2003: Use Save As - and here you can save as .DOC Now the document is saved in a version which can be read by the 2003 version
The X stands for XML (Extensible Markup Language), which is the programming language behind the scenes in Office 2007 programs.
Previous versions of Word were based on binary data. Binary data is, by nature, prone to corruption, and "bloated."
By changing the background code, Microsoft was able to create new tools and features in Word 2007 that would not have been possible otherwise.
You can open docx extension files only with MS Office 2007. If you wish to open it in earlier versions you have to save it again in compatible mode. Click on File (top left most corner with the logo), Save As, Word 97-2003 Document. Just using Save option will save your document as "docx" and not "doc" document.
