Question about Tomtom GO 300 GPS Receiver

Not recognizing memory card!

Just tried to update my Go 300 and when I switch the unit on it scrolls the animation showing the card with a big red cross through it. I have tried resetting etc. and the Tom Tom help guide suggests to install updates. I have tried to do this, but the Tom Tom Home package tells me there are no updates available! Help

Re: Not recognizing memory card!

I had the same issue after installing updates, I contacted tomtom & they talked me through it.

I think i had to wipe the card & through my tomtom home software they reformated the card & go it sorted.

Tomtom Go 500 won't see memory card - big red cross over memory card on screen. Have tried reflowing solder joints on card slot. Have tried cleaning card slot.

Have you tried reformatting your memory card? Does your computer recognize your card if you plug in the card directly to your computer? You can also try a different memory card if the other solution doesn't work. REFORMATTING WILL ERASE THE CONTENTS OF CARD JUST SO YOU KNOW!

When I switch on my TomTom, SD card has a red cross?

This problem is due to the memory card not containing the TomTom application or map. To update the application onto the memory card, Connect the device to your computer. Open the TomTom Home application. Click on 'Update My Device'. This should then install the application onto the SD card. Alternativly, you could perform all the steps above without the SD card in the device, this will install the application onto the internal memory. Note: you may also need to install your maps, voices, etc after you update.

you can reset the unit by removing it from the cradle and using a straightened paper clip in the reset hole on the unit's bottom

go to tomtom website ----> support ---->Select your product ----> Select your model --->Your question is about: select 'How to' Questions then below look for "How to soft-reset my navigation device" click on it.Select your device from the list below to see how to reset it

GO 300 not recognized by PC & Home / doesn't recognize SD card

WOW!! You have tried everything i can think of...I was going to have you go tan an earlier version of home, which you said at the very bottom....

maybe try this.......put the SD card in the unit and format it again....this time try to add a fresh application and 1 voice this straight from the home disconnect the device and hopefully it says 'No Maps found'. If it does then we know the drive is good..if not then the unit might be shot....if you do get 'No Maps found' into support and have them give you a frsh map...(If they ask, inform them exactly this--'I did not make a back up, all I want is any map, so as long as my unit is up and running"

Tomtom GO 910 GPS Receiver flashing white X in a red circle
I discovered that there was a file on the 910 called CLMDATA which was corrupt. When I deleted this in Windows explorer, the unit started up and worked OK. This file is recreated when the unit starts up.
