Question about Garmin Nuvi 660 GPS Receiver

1 Answer

Volume a lot lower after having updates done

After having my Garmin 350 up dated by the selling store, I have a real problem. The Volume is about half of what it was, and it was not to loud in the first place. In heavy traffic, it is almost impossible to hear it. We have to rely on the white arrow, and it is not convenient at all. Would you please tell me what is the problem, and how it could be remediated.
Thank you for your cooperation

The firmware & voice updates have lowered the volume level. The reason for this is because this unit has a history of the speaker failures due to speaker being over driven.

The voice files can be modified to restore the audio levels. I've done it. However, you take the risk that the speaker may be over driven.

You can also buy a FM transmitter and plug it into the Nuvi's headphone jack and listen to voice directions/music through your car stereo.

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of.(from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones)
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
Goodluck!

I have a garmin nuvi 250 gps how do i up date it?

You need to plug it into a pc and get on Garmin's website. Hopefully when you plug the device into the pc it will be recognised and a Garmin screen will appear. Follow instructions and there should be an option to update the software. Failing that, ,leave the device plugged in and visit Garmin's website. Seek out your device and once found there should be an option to update the device's software. Good luck

Garmin Nuvi 360

Have you checked the volume (wrench/volume mp3/audible 100%) Does the garmin detect the phone properly?
Have you checked the firmware thru http://www8.garmin.com/products/webupdater/howtoinstall.jsp

After you update delete the connection between garmin and phone and pair them again.

Updating to new street software

Go to the Support screen at Garmin. They will send you both the Username and Password as long as you send them the email address. Garmin doesn't dump accounts once registered - it's still in their files.

Wrong date and time

Your GPS receive its date and time from satellites. Take the unit outside and acquire a satellite fix in order to update your time and date. You can set the time zone and time display (12hr, 24hr, UTC) under the unit setting.

Garmin nuvi 350 troubleshooting

1)Does it make beeping sounds when you touch the screen buttons?

2)Can you hear the voice when you listen through an external headset?

If your answer is no to #1 and yes to #2 then you may have a dead speaker.

In the setup screen there is a way to select different voices/languages.  Try a different voice.

When those models first came out there was a problem with the software not recognizing the voice files.  There was a free update done to correct the problem.  If your current software version is less than 5.00 you should update.

Here's the update page:  http://www8.garmin.com/support/collection.jsp?product=010-00455-00
