You most likely have a bad video inverter or bad screen. 90% of the time we see this it is the inverter. Video inverters are relatively inexpensive and easy to replace if you are mechanically inclined. Do a goole search for your model and include the words "inverter". You should find a full selection of vendors. You can obtain instructions on dell.com in how to change the inverter. The whole job takes less than one hour.
