I have a ACer Aspire 5310 with Windows Vista. MATSHITA DVD-RAM uj-850s ATA Device does not working at all, but system says that "It is working properly"... I cannot find driver download anywhere. Does it means that this shitty device should not work and noone can fix it?
This device is Plug and Play, that's why thre is no driver for it, besides, it's already installed in Windows. Is the Acer alaptop or a desktop? Did you get the device after buying the computer? How did you installed it? Here is a tip, when installing th e drive, just make sure that the device is properly inserted, and go to the Bios to see if it's recognize.

I have the same drive but it will read and write CD's and it seems ok with some makes of DVD-/+RW discs, but it will not read DVD ROMS or write DVD-/+R's. Not tried cleaning the lense yet. I've had the laptop for almost 2 years and have rarely used the drive. I have seen lense cleaners for sale, but they cost almost as much as a replacement drive off ebay would cost. Is this a known issue with these drives? Do they become a bit ropey after a while?
