That may be because your phone is not able to detect the removal of headset since the last time you removed it.
It still detects a headset at the port.
What you should do is,
Repeatedly connect and disconnect the headset as fast as possible. At one time, it will detect the removal and your problem will be solved. I did this with my phone when I had a similar problem.
