Question about Belkin Wireless G Plus MIMO (F5D9230-4) Router (1010835)

2 Answers

I fell at the first hurdle!

I typed the ip adress into Internet Explorer but the page won't load... the router is connected to the internet via an NTL cable modem. I wonder if that's part of the problem?

Other people are connecting to our wireless connection and it's really slow, so I need to password protect asap.

Help us please!

Thanks very much,

Cliff

If you need to password protect your router, you need to configure it. first, you need to know what is the ip address of your router, usually it goes like 192.168.1.1 then type it on your browser, if not then you need to refer to your manual to know what ip address your router has. Look for the configuration that lets you add WEP ( Wireless Encryption Protocol ) ..

Can you check if there is really an internet connection?
If not then you need to configure the internet access on your router.
If you have slow connection and many people are connecting it, it will surely give you a resource timeout on your browser.

PM me if problem still persists
Thank you : )

Dont enter the Router IP as WWW.192.168.0.1, Instead just type 192.168.0.1 and it should let you access the Router EWS Page. you are trying to access Internal network ( which we can call local network or LAN ) so do not use WWW.

In the Address bar of Internet Explorer, just type the IP Address.

This is actually wrong: http://192.168.0.11.1

If your router is connected to your computer via ethernet cable you will be able to get the configuration page of the router.

Windows XP
1. Click start
2. Click run
3. Type cmd in the box and press enter
4. On the black screen type ipconfig and press enter
5. Look for the default gateway
6. Copy that and use that to access the configuration page using the internet explorer
7. Open internet explorer, type http://the default gateway you copied in the address bar of the internet explorer
ex: http://192.168.1.0

Windows Vista
1. Click pearl button (start in xp)
2. Click on start search box (run in xp)
3. Type cmd in the box
4. Right click the black icon up at the top
5. Click on run as administrator
6. Click on continue
7. On the black screen type ipconfig and press enter
8. Look for the default gateway
9. Copy that and use that to access the configuration page using the internet explorer
10. Open internet explorer, type http://the default gateway you copied in the address bar of the internet explorer
ex: http://192.168.1.0

first enter to your network connections in control panel, double click local area network, properties, internet protocol(TCP/IP), and tick Obtain an IP adress....Obtain DNS server..... and after that ok...ok..ok.
Now open an internet explorer window and type in the adress bar 192.168.1.1 and press enter . if you are asked for username or password try writing admin on both. good luck!

Connectivity

I think you mean that you configured your router at 198.168.254.254

in that case i would go to your network properties of windows.
set a fixed ip of 198.168.254.x (x= anything between 1 and 253)
set your gateway fixed at 198.168.254.254.

then open the explorer and type the adress of your router. Now you should be able to change the ip of your router and if needed enable DHCP.

if you enable dhcp go to your computer and set it do dynamic adress or get adress from dhcp.

or

set your ip settings of your computer as of it was before.

good luck.

Router wbr 1310 4 pc fourth cannot connect to the internet

what OS are you running?

I suspect that the 4th PC is not getting an IP assigned or the security does not match if running wireless.

are you connecting wireless or via ethernet?

As a start do this...

start, run, cmd enter

type ipconfig into the dos window and post back results.

Do this for the non working PC and one of the working PC's

Setting up my wireless

first connect the router via cable with the pc.
start internet-explorer, type in http://192.168.0.1.
this ip-adress maybe different for several routers, please read manual for the correct ip.
if ip is correct you can now see the menu of the router, type in your provider datas, secure the w-lan connection (wpa if possible), write down the passphrase you choosed. deconnect router - setup now your wireless usb-stick or w-lan card or use xp-assistent...type in your passphrase - should work now.

Ps3 to internet

Difficult to explain but i'll try:

You got 2 options.

1. Buy a router and connect the modem to the router wan port and find a manual how to set it up. Then through your router you can connect (a lot of) pc's, laptops or ps3.

2. Buy an extra network card and a crosslink network cable cat5e. Use software like gatekeeper to connect both to internet.

maybe the second option is the best because sometimes isp providers register you mac adress(unique adress of your network device). It's not the fastest solution.

The first is the most professional but require some knowledge of routers, ppoa, pptp, fixed ip, Wan ip, and lan ip.

I did the second option a lot with speedtouch modems and draytek routers.

Good luck, let me know if you need more assistence.
