Re: i fell at the first hurdle!
If you need to password protect your router, you need to configure it. first, you need to know what is the ip address of your router, usually it goes like 192.168.1.1 then type it on your browser, if not then you need to refer to your manual to know what ip address your router has. Look for the configuration that lets you add WEP ( Wireless Encryption Protocol ) ..
Can you check if there is really an internet connection? If not then you need to configure the internet access on your router. If you have slow connection and many people are connecting it, it will surely give you a resource timeout on your browser.
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

Dont enter the Router IP as WWW.192.168.0.1, Instead just type 192.168.0.1 and it should let you access the Router EWS Page. you are trying to access Internal network ( which we can call local network or LAN ) so do not use WWW.
In the Address bar of Internet Explorer, just type the IP Address.
If your router is connected to your computer via ethernet cable you will be able to get the configuration page of the router.
Windows XP 1. Click start 2. Click run 3. Type cmd in the box and press enter 4. On the black screen type ipconfig and press enter 5. Look for the default gateway 6. Copy that and use that to access the configuration page using the internet explorer 7. Open internet explorer, type http://the default gateway you copied in the address bar of the internet explorer ex: http://192.168.1.0
Windows Vista 1. Click pearl button (start in xp) 2. Click on start search box (run in xp) 3. Type cmd in the box 4. Right click the black icon up at the top 5. Click on run as administrator 6. Click on continue 7. On the black screen type ipconfig and press enter 8. Look for the default gateway 9. Copy that and use that to access the configuration page using the internet explorer 10. Open internet explorer, type http://the default gateway you copied in the address bar of the internet explorer ex: http://192.168.1.0
connect it with ethernet cable to router. then press setup button scroll to netwrok setup press ok. scroll to view netwrok settings or print netwrok settings press ok. scroll to print netwrok configuration page. get ip adress. open internet explorer type ip adress in adress bar at top. then hit enter. it will open pritner ews page. at top click on networking. then on top left corner under connectivity click on wireless then click on ipv4 configurations. under that click on manuall and put same ip address and default gateways and subnet mask that u see on netwrok configuration page. adn hit apply. then go to netwroking tab and look for wireless setup wizard. click on that run wireless setup wizard from computer. it will successfully connect pritner to netwrok. then disconnect ethernet cable and turn on wireless radio. ur pritner is ready to go. print one more netwrok configuration page to check if u r getting same ip address after disconnecting ethernet. and then try to open ews of pritner again from internet explorer by putting ip address in address bar. if it is successfully opening page ur pritner is connectd to network.
first enter to your network connections in control panel, double click local area network, properties, internet protocol(TCP/IP), and tick Obtain an IP adress....Obtain DNS server..... and after that ok...ok..ok. Now open an internet explorer window and type in the adress bar 192.168.1.1 and press enter . if you are asked for username or password try writing admin on both. good luck!
For Router drivers is not required ,U can configure though the command prompt
I can tell some configuration try it,
the default ip adress of the router will the 192.168.1.1 OR 192.168.0.1
In your Lan card configure,
1. obtain Ip adress automitically
go to command prompt----type ---ipconfig---check the ip address which ip is getting---
go to internet explorer ----type the ip address in adress bar-----------login page will get---
login as, user name admin
password admin------configure your internetip adress & DNS ip address, save & check.............
first connect the router via cable with the pc.
start internet-explorer, type in http://192.168.0.1.
this ip-adress maybe different for several routers, please read manual for the correct ip.
if ip is correct you can now see the menu of the router, type in your provider datas, secure the w-lan connection (wpa if possible), write down the passphrase you choosed. deconnect router - setup now your wireless usb-stick or w-lan card or use xp-assistent...type in your passphrase - should work now.
