The batterie symbol is flashing while on charge and will not give a percent and can't turn off phone?

have you tried your dads battery in your phone it sounds like the battery is dead if your charger works on your dads phone then you know it not the charger the chances are it is the battery it would only be the phone if it has been dropped or got wet if this hasnt happened then the problem is the battery if your dads battery is the same then try charging his batt through your phone that way you would know if it was phone or battery.

If you take the phone into any phone shop they will test the phone and battery for free for you they can try the battery and also try a new battery in your phone and they will tell you if it is phone or battery but from my experiance it is going to be the battery let me know how you get on ok

Try another battery. Take the camera to a shop to try the battery before you buy just to make sure. Rechargeable batteries do eventually die, especially if you don't give them the full charge up time. If you only ever give your battery a quick charge you induce a 'chemical memory' which makes the battery work for only a short time despite showing a full charge.

Disable your theme and turn on then off then on (toggle it) the battery % in the settings. The theme can sometimes do screwy things to your phone. I would recommend removing winterboard all together and seeing if that solves the problem. Worse case you will need to restore your iphone. If it comes to that be sure you take screen shots of each app page by holding down the lock and home button for a second or two until you see the flash. They have apps that "backup" your jailbreak apps, but honestly I do not trust them and if you do a fresh install after the restore it will for the better.

A few things to note if you do the restore option:

1. Backup your phone in itunes before you restore it.
2. You will need to jailbreak it again... but it gives you a good excuse upgrade the iphone OS.
3. iTunes backup with not back up any cracked apps you may or may not have installed so be sure you have the files somewhere.
4. Test your battery issue while the phone is not jailbroken after the restore. This will be a great time to take it to the apple store if it is still acting up :)

This is an indication that the battery pack has shorted out and is not functioning. The batteries in laptops have a thermal fuse inside that blows if the pack gets to hot to prevent exploding. When the battery cells die sometimes they will short out and pull to much current, this causes them to quickly overheat. The fuse blows and the battery cools down but is dead because of the shorted battery cell. The laptop can see a battery but can't charge it because of the blown cell and fuse. Its time to replace it.
